Overview

This document provides a quick installation guide for the Tenda AX3000 Dual-Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router, outlining its setup, connectivity options, and basic troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Tenda AX3000 is a dual-band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 router designed to provide high-speed wireless internet access. It supports the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard, offering improved performance and efficiency for multiple connected devices. The router functions as a central hub for your home network, allowing both wireless and wired devices to connect to the internet. It can be configured to automatically detect your internet connection type, simplifying the setup process. The device also includes a PPPoE user name and password import function, which can streamline the transition from an old router to the new one for users with PPPoE connections. Once configured, it broadcasts a Wi-Fi network (or two, for dual-band operation) and provides wired LAN ports for devices requiring a physical connection.

Usage Features

The router offers several features to facilitate its use and management:

  • Quick Installation: The guide emphasizes a quick setup process, starting with connecting the router to the power source and then to the internet source (modem or Ethernet jack).
  • PPPoE User Name and Password Import (Optional): For users with existing PPPoE connections, the router supports importing the PPPoE user name and password from an old router. This is achieved by connecting the WAN port of the original router to a LAN port of the new router. The new router's LED indicator will blink rapidly for 8 seconds to confirm the import, eliminating the need for manual entry during setup. This feature is applicable for most PPPoE ISPs, though some special ISPs or manually configured VLAN connections might not support it.
  • Flexible Internet Connection: The router's WAN port can be connected to a modem (such as a cable or DSL modem) or directly to an Ethernet jack, accommodating various internet service provider setups.
  • Wireless Connectivity (Wi-Fi): Devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops can connect to the router wirelessly. The default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password are provided on the bottom label of the router for easy initial connection. The router supports dual-band operation, typically broadcasting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, which can be unified or kept separate depending on user preference.
  • Wired Connectivity (LAN): The router includes multiple LAN ports (labeled 1, 2, and IPTV/3) that allow wired devices such as computers, gaming consoles, or network switches to connect using Ethernet cables. These ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps auto-negotiation, ensuring compatibility with various network speeds.
  • Web-based User Interface (UI): The router is managed through a web browser by visiting tendawifi.com. This interface allows users to configure internet settings, change Wi-Fi names and passwords, set a login password for the router's administration, and access other advanced features.
  • Automatic Connection Type Detection: During the initial setup, the router attempts to automatically detect the internet connection type (e.g., PPPoE, Dynamic IP, Static IP), simplifying the configuration process for most users.
  • Customizable Wi-Fi Settings: Users can customize the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password to their preference through the web UI. This includes setting a strong password for security.
  • Login Password for Router Management: A separate login password can be set for accessing the router's web UI, providing an additional layer of security for managing network settings.
  • WPS Functionality: The WPS/RST button on the router serves a dual purpose. When pressed briefly, it initiates the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) process, allowing WPS-supported devices to connect to the Wi-Fi network without manually entering the password. The LED indicator blinks fast during WPS negotiation.
  • IPTV Support: One of the LAN ports (IPTV/3) can be configured to function specifically as an IPTV port, allowing connection to a set-top box for television services. By default, it operates as a standard LAN port.
  • LED Indicators: The router features an LED indicator that provides visual feedback on its operational status. Different blinking patterns and colors indicate various states, such as system startup, internet connection status, device connection/disconnection, WPS negotiation, or system faults. This helps users quickly assess the router's condition.

Maintenance Features

The router incorporates features that aid in maintenance and troubleshooting:

  • Reset Functionality: The WPS/RST button also serves as a reset button. Holding it down for approximately 8 seconds while the router is operating normally will reset the router to its factory default settings. The LED indicator will blink fast to confirm the reset. This is a crucial troubleshooting step for various network issues.
  • Firmware Updates: Although not explicitly detailed in the quick guide, Tenda routers typically support firmware updates through the web UI. Keeping the firmware updated is essential for security, performance improvements, and new feature additions.
  • Troubleshooting Guide (FAQ): The manual includes a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section that addresses common issues such as inability to log in to the web UI, failure to access the internet after configuration, how to change Wi-Fi names and passwords, how to reset the router, and issues with finding Wi-Fi networks. This provides users with immediate solutions to common problems.
  • Online User Guide: For more detailed product and function information, users are directed to the Tenda website (www.tendacn.com) to download the full user guide. This ensures comprehensive support beyond the quick installation guide.
  • Technical Support: Contact information for technical support, including hotlines for various regions (USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Global) and an email address, is provided. This allows users to seek assistance from Tenda's support team for complex issues.
  • Wall Mounting: The router is designed to be wall-mountable, with specific recommendations for expansion bolts and screws provided. This allows for flexible placement, potentially optimizing Wi-Fi coverage and reducing clutter.
  • Environmental Compliance: The product bears the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) symbol, indicating that it should be recycled or dismantled responsibly to minimize environmental impact. This promotes sustainable end-of-life management for the device.
  • Regulatory Information: The manual includes CE Mark Warning and FCC Statement, providing important regulatory compliance information, including operating frequencies, EIRP power, and guidelines for safe operation and interference prevention. This ensures the device meets regional standards.
