START, DRIVE, PARK & POWER OFF
When parked, the center of the instrument panel displays range and shows whether any doors
are open. Pressing the brake starts Model S.
SELECT A GEAR
With the brake pedal rmly depressed, move the gear selector all the way down for D (Drive),
all the way up for R (Reverse), and a half push in either direction for N (Neutral). When you nish
driving, shift into P (Park) by pressing the button on the end of the gear selector.
If CREEP is OFF, Model S does not roll when shifted into D or R the way conventional vehicles do.
Note that Model S senses your weight in the driver’s seat. If you lift o the seat, it may shift into
P (Park).
POWER OFF
Shift into P (Park) by pressing the button on the end of the gear selector. The parking brake
automatically engages and all systems keep operating. When you leave Model S, it powers o
automatically, turning o the touchscreen and instrument panel.
