Why won't my Texas 5170 TR/WE Lawn Mower start, even when pulling the cord or pushing the electric start button?

  There are several reasons why your Texas Lawn Mower might not be starting. Make sure you are activating the engine brake handle when starting. Check that the wires are correctly connected to the battery. The engine brake cable might need adjustment. Ensure the mower isn't standing in high grass. Prime the engine by pushing the primer 1-3 times. Verify the choke is in the correct position. Also, check the fuel tank to make sure it's not empty or that the gasoline isn't old (more than 3 months). If the gasoline is old, empty the tank and carburetor and refill with fresh gasoline.
