WARNING:
Do not ru n the TKS ice protection system in dry, cold air. Th e ice
prote ction flu id is designed to mix with water tha t im ping es on the
surface of the airplane during norma l operation . If you run the system
during dr y, col d air cond ition s, the fluid becomes a gel that takes m uch
time to clear, particularly from the windshield.
B. Turn the BACKUP switch to ON.
NOTE: During the i nitial operation of th e TKS system, the low pressure WARN annun ciator m ay
initially com e ON and then shoul d go out as the system begins to flow and to build pressure.
C. Walk arou nd the airplane and make sure that there is a fluid flow to each porous panel that go es
the f ull length of the panel.
NOTE: At fluid t emperatures that are a bov e 59 °F (15 °C), fluid vis co sity is suc h that the operating
pressure may not cancel the low pressure WA RN annunciator. At these fluid t emperatures,
you must make sure visually of the full-length fluid flow to each porous panel to make sure of
correct operation of t he system . A f te r initial operation , t he low press ure WARN annunciator
should not c ome ON during in-flight s ystem operation w ith the outside air temperature
(OAT) below 46 °F (8 °C).
16. Make an entry in the airplane logbook stating this service bulletin has been installed.
