Ifthis happens,apply fullcarburetorairheatandopenthet hrottletolimiting manifoldpressure
andRPM.Thiswillresultinaslightadditionaldropinmanifoldpressure,whichisnormal,and
this drop will be regainedas the ice is melted out ofthe inductionsystem. When ice has been
melted fr omtheinductionsystem,returnt hecarburetor heat control tothefullcoldposition.In
thoseaircraftequippedwithacarburetorairtemperaturegauge,partialheatmaybeusedtokeep
themixturet emperatureabovethefreezingpointofwater(32°F).

AIRCRAFTTHATDONOTHAVEACARBURETORAIRTEMPERATUREGAUGE. USE
EITHERFULLHEATORNOHEATINAIRCRAFTTHATARENOTEQUIPPEDWITHA
CARUBRETORAIRTEMPERATUREGAUGE.
(5)LandingApproach–In makingalandingapproach,thecarburetorheatisgenerally inthe“Full
Cold”position.However,ificingconditionsaresuspected,apply“FullHeat”.Inthecasethatfull
power needstobeappliedundertheseconditions,asforanabortedlanding,returnthecarburetor
heatto“FullCold”afterfullpowerapplication.
