Dead circuit Open circuit or
short circuit
Break the circuit down into sections and check
each section for continuity.
(2b) When using the
test set in Monitor
mode, or with the
test set discon-
nected, the voltage
will be lower than
normal.

test set in Monitor

will be normal.
(2a) This indicates a high-resistance fault,
which restricts the amount of current
flowing through the circuit. Possible faults
include a poor connection, wet cables, or a
line extender failure.
