Introduction
The PE945/PE961 Telephone Test Set is an advanced, convenient, and easy-to-use telephone line
troubleshooting device. Equipped with a number of LEDs and alarms, it lets the user know the
operating mode and provides alerts for hazardous situations.
LEDs: Polarity
Low Battery
Talk/Monitor
Tones: Low Pitch
Middle Pitch
High Pitch
The LEDs and tones indicate various conditions and functions. They are shown throughout the
manual in
italic type.
The PE945/PE961 produces two types of alarms to alert the user to potentially hazardous
situations.
Excessive DC voltage is indicated by low pitch tones (Boop... Boop... Boop...).
AC line voltage is indicated by continuous ringing.
If you hear either of these alarms, which are repeated in
bold italic type
in this manual, remove
the test set from the line carefully and immediately.
