Cutting tools may shatter if broken. Safety glasses are required.
A cutting fluid is necessary for reaming and tapping (e.g., WD40).
Using an air ratchet at slow speed helps speed up the reamer tool.
Ensure the head is raised to allow pilot clearance to avoid hitting the surface below.
Place the reamer into the wrench square and tighten setscrew. Pilot keeps hole square.
Ream until the black stop collar bottoms out and spins freely, creating a countersink.
Place the tap into the wrench square and tighten setscrew.
Tap to the full depth allowed by the tool until it stops or bottoms out.
Use contact or brake cleaner to thoroughly clean chips and oil from the hole.
Place the driver into the wrench square and tighten setscrew.
Oil the bottom threads of the driver with a few drops of driver oil.
Screw the insert onto the driver and into the prepared hole.
Continue screwing until the driver loosens, cold forming threads to lock the insert.
Remove the driver; the repair is complete. New threads are square to original plug hole.
