Anode replacement
A sacrificial anode protects the outboard motor from electrolytic corrosion. Anode is
located on the gear case, cylinder etc.. When the anode is eroded more than 1/3 of
original size, replace it.

Notes
z Never grease or paint the anode.
z At each inspection re-tighten the anode attaching bolt. As it is likely to be subjected to elec-
trolytic corrosion.
z Because the anti-corrosion effect decreases, be sure to correctly install the anode and each
ground lead to be connected to the bracket when the anode is replaced.
