Why is my Topaz Air Conditioner compressor running but not cooling enough?

  If the compressor in your Topaz Air Conditioner runs, but the condenser fan does not, and you're experiencing insufficient cooling, start by checking for any loose or defective wires and repair them. Replace any shorted or open condenser motor capacitors. If the motor is bad, replace it. Insufficient airflow through the evaporator coil could also be the cause. Check for improper blower rotation and correct it if necessary. Replace a dirty air filter, clean a dirty evaporator coil, remove any obstructions, and defrost any ice on the evaporator coil. If the refrigerant is low, repair the leak and recharge it. Finally, ensure that the unit is properly sized for the load; if not, consider adding additional air conditioners.

The thermostat might be satisfied, meaning there's no demand for cooling at the moment. Alternatively, the thermostat could be in compressor start delay mode; wait at least five minutes after setting it to COOL. Ensure the thermostat is set to COOL mode. Check if the condensate jumper plug or condensate pump is properly installed. Inspect the high-pressure switch and press the reset button, replacing the switch if necessary.
