Overview

This document outlines the procedure for performing percent weighing using an AGC Series scale, a feature designed to measure the weight of an object as a percentage of a previously stored sample. Before utilizing this function, it is crucial to ensure that Percent Weighing is enabled and configured according to the steps detailed in Chapter 7.1.3 of the Instruction Manual. Once configured, the Percent Weighing mode can be accessed by pressing the "Function" key and then selecting "Percent" by pressing the "T" key when "Percent" is displayed on the scale.

The process begins by preparing the scale for measurement. First, a container is placed on the weighing pan. To ensure accurate measurement of the sample, the scale must be tared. This is achieved by pressing the "T" key, which zeroes out the weight of the container, allowing only the weight of the subsequent contents to be measured. This initial tare step is fundamental for obtaining precise percentage calculations.

After taring the container, the scale will display the weight of a previously stored sample. This is an important point in the workflow, as it allows for two distinct paths: either using the existing sample setting or defining a new one. If the displayed sample weight is acceptable for the current measurement task, the user can confirm it by pressing the "T" (YES) key. This action bypasses the need to set a new sample and moves directly to the next stage of the weighing process. However, if a new sample weight needs to be established, the user must press the "→0←" (NO) key. This indicates that the previously stored sample is not suitable, and the scale will then prompt the user to provide a new reference sample.

When a new sample is required, the user proceeds by placing the desired sample onto the pan. The scale will then measure and display the weight of this sample. This step is critical for establishing the 100% reference point against which subsequent objects will be compared. Once the sample is on the pan and its weight is displayed, the user must confirm this weight. This is done by pressing the "T" (YES) key again. Confirming the sample weight locks it in as the reference value for the percentage calculation. This ensures that all subsequent measurements are accurately compared against the intended baseline.

Following the confirmation of the sample weight, the scale is ready for the final measurement. The user must then remove the sample from the pan. With the pan clear, the object to be weighed as a percentage of the stored sample is placed onto the pan. The scale will then automatically calculate and display the weight of this object as a percentage of the previously confirmed sample weight. This final display provides the user with the desired percentage value, completing the percent weighing operation. The display will show the percentage, often accompanied by the "%" symbol, indicating the relative weight of the object compared to the reference sample.

For any detailed information regarding this feature, users are directed to Chapter 8 of the instruction manual.
