Important: Do not change the hydraulic
system uid (except for what can be drained
when changing the lter), unless the uid has
been contaminated or been extremely hot.
Changing the hydraulic uid unnecessarily
could damage the hydraulic system by
introducing contaminates into the system.
5. Before installing the new lter , ll it with T oro
®
HYPR-OIL
500 hydraulic uid and apply a thin
coat of uid on the surface of the rubber seal.
6. T urn the lter clockwise until the rubber seal
contacts the lter adapter , then tighten the lter
an additional 2/3 to 3/4 turn.
7. Fill the reservoir as stated in Checking the
Hydraulic Fluid ( page 55 ) .
8. Raise the rear of the machine up and support it
with jack stands (or equivalent support) just high
enough to allow drive wheels to turn freely .
9. Start the engine and move the throttle control to
the F ULL - THROTTLE position.
10. Move the speed-control levers to the full-speed
position and run the machine for several
minutes.

Blade Safety
Inspect the blades periodically for wear or damage.
Use care when checking the blades. W rap the
blades or wear gloves, and use caution when
servicing the blades. Only replace or sharpen the
blades; never straighten or weld them.
On multi-bladed machines, take care as rotating
one blade can cause other blades to rotate.
Replace worn or damaged blades and bolts in sets
to preserve balance.
Servicing the Cutting
Blades
T o ensure a superior quality of cut, keep the blades
sharp. For convenient sharpening and replacement,
you may want to keep extra blades on hand.
Before Inspecting or Servicing the
Blades
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage
the blade-control switch (PT O), and engage the
parking brake.
2. Shut of f the engine, remove the key , and
disconnect the spark-plug wires from the spark
plugs.
Inspecting the Blades
Service Interval : Before each use or daily
1. Inspect the cutting edges ( Figure 64 ).
2. If the edges are not sharp or have nicks, remove
and sharpen the blade; refer to Sharpening the
Blades ( page 57 ) .
3. Inspect the blades, especially in the curved area.
4. If you notice any cracks, wear , or a slot forming
in this area, immediately install a new blade
( Figure 64 ).
