Maintenance
Hydraulic System Safety
Seek immediate medical attention if uid is injected
into skin. Injected uid must be surgically removed
within a few hours by a doctor .
Ensure that all hydraulic-uid hoses and lines are
in good condition and all hydraulic connections
and ttings are tight before applying pressure to
the hydraulic system.
Keep your body and hands away from pinhole
leaks or nozzles that eject high-pressure hydraulic
uid.
Use cardboard or paper to nd hydraulic leaks.
Safely relieve all pressure in the hydraulic system
before performing any work on the hydraulic
system.

Checking the Hydraulic Fluid
Service Interval : Every 40 hours —Check the
hydraulic uid level.
1. Park the machine on a level surface, move the
speed-control lever to the N EUTRAL position,
disengage the blade-control switch (PT O), and
engage the parking brake.
2. Shut of f the engine, remove the key , and wait
for all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
3. Allow the engine and the hydraulic system to
cool for 10 minutes.
Note: T o get the correct reading, check the
hydraulic uid level when the machine is cool.
4. Raise the seat up.
5. Clean the area around the dipstick of the
hydraulic-system reservoir ( Figure 63 ).
6. Remove the dipstick from the hydraulic reservoir
( Figure 63 ).
7. Wipe the dipstick of f and thread the dipstick into
the reservoir .
8. Remove the dipstick and look at the end
( Figure 63 ). If the uid level is at the add mark,
slowly pour only enough uid into the hydraulic
reservoir to raise the level to the full line.
Important: Do not overll the hydraulic
units with uid, as damage may occur . Do
not run the machine with the uid below the
add mark.
9. Install the dipstick.
