Removal
1. Park machine on a level surface. Make sure engine
is OFF. Chock wheels to prevent machine from moving.
2. To prevent unexpected machine operation, discon-
nect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal
(see Battery Service in the Service and Repairs section
of Chapter 4 -- Electrical System). Position discon-
nected negative cable away from the negative battery
terminal.
CAUTION
The engine may be hot. Allow engine to cool be-
fore removing guards from machine.
3. Remove guards from machine as needed using Fig.
6 or 7 as a guide.
NOTE: Machines with serial number above 311000000
use a muffler mount to support the front of the top grill
(Fig. 7). Removal of the muffler mount on these ma-
chines requires removal of the blower driveshaft or en-
gine.
Installation
1. Install removed guards from machine using Figs. 6
or 7 as a guide.
1. Cap screw (2 used)
2. Washer (2 used)
3. Flange screw (2 used)
4. Flange nut (2 used)
5. Muffler mount
6. Top grill
7. Tinnerman nut (2 used)
