1.Donotcleanthepaperlter,replaceit(Figure43).
2.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,ordamage
totherubberseal.
3.Replacethepaperelementifitisdamaged.

Donotcleanthesecondarylter,replaceit.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesecondary
lter.Ifthesecondarylterisdirty,thenthe
primarylterisdamagedandyoushouldreplace
bothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandcover
installed.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterforshipping
damage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifthesecondarylterisbeingreplaced,carefully
slideitintothelterbody(Figure43).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesecondary
lter(Figure43).Ensurethatitisfullyseatedby
pushingontheouterrimofthelterwhileinstalling
it.
Important:Donotpressonthesoftinsidearea
ofthelter.
4.Installtheaircleanercoverwiththebreathercap
downandrotatesotheretainingclampslockthe
coverinplace(
Figure43).
ServicingtheEngineOil
OilType:Detergentoil(APIserviceSG,SH,SJ,orSL)
OilCapacity:withalterchange,77ounces(2.3L);
withoutalterchange,70ounces(2.1L)
Viscosity:Seethetablebelow.
