Overview

The IK-527A is a high-resolution CCD monochrome video camera designed for EIA systems, suitable for surveillance applications or as an input device for image processing systems. This camera utilizes a CCD sensor, which contributes to its ability to produce images with reduced lag and minimal geometric distortion. It also exhibits good resistance to vibration and mechanical shock, making it a robust choice for various environments.

One of the key features of the IK-527A is its high resolution, capable of producing images with over 400 TV lines of horizontal resolution. This ensures clear and detailed video output, which is crucial for monitoring and analysis tasks. The camera also boasts high sensitivity, with a minimum illumination requirement of just 0.3 lux at F1.4 and 3200K. This allows the unit to capture good quality images even in very low light conditions, extending its usability to dimly lit areas where other cameras might struggle.

The IK-527A incorporates a line-lock mode, a unique design feature that ensures image stability when viewed from a video monitor controlled by a switcher. This is particularly beneficial in surveillance systems where multiple cameras are often used and switched between, as it helps maintain a consistent and steady picture, preventing fluctuations that can occur due to different AC line phases.

Another notable feature is the automatic electronic shutter (AES). This function automatically adjusts the shutter speed based on the subject's brightness, ensuring a steady and consistent amount of exposure. This eliminates the need for manual shutter adjustments in varying light conditions, simplifying operation and ensuring optimal image quality at all times.

For power, the camera requires a 24V AC UL listed class 2 power supply. It is important to connect the correct power source to prevent damage and ensure proper operation. The camera's connections include a video output terminal for connecting to a TV monitor, and an IRIS connector on the left side for auto IRIS lenses, supporting both amplified and non-amplified types. When using an auto IRIS lens, a slide switch on the rear panel needs to be set to either "AI" for amplified lenses or "AI AMP" for non-amplified lenses. Pin definitions for the IRIS connector are provided to ensure correct wiring and operation.

The IK-527A is designed for indoor use only, and users should avoid placing or using it under direct sunlight, rain, or dust to protect the camera. Care should be taken not to touch the CCD sensor directly with fingers; if cleaning is necessary, a soft cloth moistened with alcohol should be used to gently wipe off dust. When the camera is not in use, attaching the lens or a cap is recommended to protect the CCD sensor from damage.

Installation of the camera should be performed by a qualified service person and conform to all local codes. The camera is equipped with a CS-mount for lenses, and a hexagonal wrench is included for adjustments. A tripod mounting base is also provided, which can be fastened to the camera using three tapped holes, securing the tripod with three screws.

Before operation, users should ensure the power source is correct and install the lens. The video output should be connected to a video monitor. Once power is supplied, the picture will appear on the monitor screen. Users can then adjust the focus and aperture of the lens to achieve the best image quality. While the back focus is typically calibrated at the factory, readjustment may be necessary depending on the application. To adjust, set the lens's focus ring to the infinity position, capture an image at a distance of 20m or more, then loosen the lens mount and turn both the lens and mount simultaneously until the picture on the monitor is in focus. Finally, tighten the screws on the mount with the hexagonal wrench.

In multi-camera setups where cameras are switched by a video switcher, image fluctuations may occur due to different AC line phases. In such cases, the VERTICAL PHASE trimmer on the rear panel can be adjusted to achieve a stable picture. The camera also features ALC (Automatic Level Control) and LEVEL adjustments. ALC allows users to adjust the contrast between peak and averaging while viewing the monitor, while LEVEL adjusts the video output signal level to the lens.

The IK-527A is built to withstand certain environmental conditions, but it is important to avoid dropping the camera or subjecting it to strong shocks or vibrations, as this can lead to malfunctions. Keeping the video out connector and AC 24V input terminals clean is also recommended for optimal performance.

Maintenance and servicing should only be performed by qualified service personnel. Users should not attempt to service the product themselves, as opening covers may expose them to dangerous voltages or other hazards. The product's warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of original retail purchase, provided the product is purchased and operated in the U.S.A. and the instruction manual is followed. The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, accident, improper installation, or unauthorized modifications.

In summary, the IK-527A is a reliable and high-performance monochrome CCD camera, offering excellent image quality, sensitivity, and stability features, making it well-suited for professional surveillance and image processing applications. Proper installation, operation, and maintenance are key to ensuring its longevity and optimal performance.
