Overview

This document serves as the owner's manual for a Toshiba R32 Inverter Air Conditioner (Split Type), designed for general public use. It covers indoor units RAS-10, 13, 16PKVSG-E and outdoor units RAS-10, 13, 16PAVSG-E. The manual emphasizes safety precautions, operational procedures, and maintenance guidelines to ensure safe and efficient use of the appliance.

Safety Precautions:

The manual begins with crucial safety information, categorized as DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION, highlighting the importance of reading and understanding these precautions before operation. It states that the appliance is filled with R32 refrigerant and advises keeping the manual accessible.

DANGER warnings include:

  • Do not install, repair, open, or remove the cover, as this may expose users to dangerous voltages. Such tasks should only be performed by a dealer or specialist.
  • Turning off the power supply alone will not prevent potential electric shock.
  • The appliance must be installed according to national wiring regulations, with a disconnection means having a contact separation of at least 3 mm in all poles incorporated into the fixed wiring.
  • The appliance must be stored in a room free from continuously operating ignition sources (e.g., open flames, operating gas appliances, or electric heaters).
  • Do not operate the unit when harmful gases (flammable or corrosive) are detected nearby to prevent fire, explosion, or injury.

WARNING warnings include:

  • Avoid prolonged direct exposure to cool or warm air.
  • Do not insert fingers or any objects into the air inlet/outlet.
  • In case of abnormality (e.g., burning smell), stop the air conditioner and disconnect the power supply or turn off the breaker.
  • The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they receive supervision or instruction on safe use and understand the associated hazards. Children should not play with the appliance, and cleaning/user maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
  • The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Installation, maintenance, repair, and removal of the air conditioner must be carried out by a qualified installer or service person.
  • Do not use any refrigerant other than R32 for complement or replacement, as this could lead to abnormally high pressure in the refrigeration cycle, potentially causing product failure, explosion, or injury.
  • Do not use means to accelerate defrosting or cleaning other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Be aware that refrigerants may not have an odor.
  • Do not pierce or burn the appliance, as it is pressurized. Avoid exposing it to heat, flames, sparks, or other ignition sources, as it may explode and cause injury or death.
  • The appliance and pipe-work must be installed, operated, and stored in a room with a floor area larger than A_min m². The manual provides a formula to calculate A_min based on refrigerant charge and installation height.

CAUTION warnings include:

  • Do not wash the unit with water, as this may cause electric shock.
  • Do not use the air conditioner for purposes other than its intended use, such as preserving food or breeding animals.
  • Do not step or place objects on the indoor/outdoor unit to prevent injury or damage.
  • Avoid touching the aluminum fin, as it may cause injury.
  • Turn off the main switch or circuit breaker before cleaning the unit.
  • If the unit will not be used for a long time, turn off the main switch or circuit breaker.
  • Regular maintenance by a specialist is recommended for units operated for extended periods.
  • The manufacturer disclaims liability for damage caused by not observing the instructions in this manual.
