4. Make t he cable c onnecti ons in the or-
der a, b, c, d.
a. Connect the c lamp of the pos iti ve
(red) jumper cable to the pos iti ve ( +)
termi nal on the dischar ged battery.
b. Connect the c lamp at the other end
of the posi tiv e (red) jumper cable t o
the positi ve (+) terminal on the booster
battery.

(blac k) jumper cabl e to the negati ve ( −)
termi nal on the booster batt ery.
d. Connect the c lamp at the other end
of the negativ e (bl ack) jumper c able to
a solid, stat ionary, unpainted, metallic
point of the v ehicl e with t he disc harged
battery.

When making the connecti ons, to
avoid death or seri ous i njury, do not
lean over the batt ery or accidental ly
let the jumper cables or clamps touch
anything except the cor rect batt ery
termi nals or the ground.
