If you have t ire damage such as cuts,
split s, cr acks deep enough to expose
the fabric, or bulges indicat ing int ernal
damage, the tire should be replaced.
If a ti re often goes flat or cannot be prop-
erly repai red due to the siz e or locat ion
of a cut or other damage, it shoul d be
replac ed. If y ou are not s ure, c onsult wi th
your Toy ota dealer.
If air los s oc curs whi le dri ving, do not
conti nue driv ing. Dr ivi ng even a shor t dis-
tance can damage a tire beyond repair.
Any t ires which are over 6 years old
must be checked by a qualified techni-
cian even if damage is not obvious.
Tires deterior ate wit h age even if they
have never or sel dom been used.
This appli es als o to t he spare t ire and
tires stored for future use.
REPLACING YOUR TIRES
When replaci ng a t ire, use a tire of t he
same siz e and const ruction, and the
same or greater load capacity as th e
originally installed tires.
Using any other siz e or ty pe of tir e may
seri ously affect handling, ride, speedome-
ter/ odometer c alibrat ion, ground cl earance,
and clearanc e between the body and t ires
or snow chains .

Otherwi se, an accident may occur re-

D Do not mix radial , bias belted, or
bias−ply t ires on your vehicl e, as
this may cause danger ous handl ing

D Do not use tir es other than t he
manufactur er ’s recommended siz e,
as this may cause danger ous han-
dling character istics resul ting i n
loss of control.
D Do not mi x ti res of different makes,
models or tread patt erns, and do
not mix t ires of remarkabl y dif ferent
treadwear. This m ay cause danger-
ous handl ing character isti cs resul t-
ing in loss of control.
Never use second−hand t ires on your
Toyota.
Using t ires whose previ ous histor y is un-
known is a risk.
Toyota recommends al l f our ti res, or at
least both fr ont or rear t ires be re-
placed at a time as a set .

When a tire is repl aced, the wheel
should always be balanced.
An unbal anced wheel may affect vehic le
handling and t ire li fe. Wheel s can get out
of bal ance wi th regul ar us e and should
theref ore be balanced occas ionall y.
When repl acing a tubeless ti re, t he air
valve should also be repl aced with a
new one.
