Overview

This document describes the Toyotomi portable air conditioner models TAD-2220E, TAD-2226E, TAD-2229E, and TAD-2235E. These units are designed to provide localized cool air, enhancing personal comfort in a specific area. They are equipped with four casters for easy mobility between rooms. The units cool and dry the air simultaneously, making them effective even in humid or rainy conditions, and can also function as dehumidifiers to protect furnishings and fabrics. Unlike conventional air conditioners that cool an entire room, these units create a zone of cool and dry air only where needed, thus conserving energy. They are easy to operate with a built-in timer for 0.5 to 24 hours of automatic operation and a convenient sleep function that gradually increases the preset temperature for more comfortable sleep. While venting is not strictly required, using the included venting kit accessory can enhance cooling efficiency when the unit is used exclusively in one space.

Function Description

The air conditioner offers several operational modes:

  • Cooling Operation (C7): In this mode, cool air is directed out the front louvers by the circulation fan, and hot air is exhausted from the exhaust outlet. Users can adjust the set temperature and fan speed.
  • Heating Operation (C12) (for TAD-2235E only): In this mode, the heating indicator is bright, and the seven-segment display shows the set temperature. The temperature setting range is 16°C to 30°C.
  • Dehumidify Mode (C8): Air is dehumidified as it passes through the unit without full cooling. Fan speed cannot be adjusted in this mode.
  • Fan Mode (C9): This mode provides only circulation of room air, so room temperature cannot be set. All mode indicators on the unit will be OFF, but fan speed can be adjusted.
  • Automatic Operation: Once a desired function is set, it is memorized as long as the unit remains connected to the wall outlet. In case of a power failure, the desired function must be re-entered upon power restoration.
  • Thermo Control: The compressor automatically switches ON or OFF to maintain the desired temperature.
  • Timer Operation (C4): The unit can be set to turn ON and OFF after a designated period (0.5, 1, 1.5, ..., 24 hours).
  • Automatic Shut-Off Mechanism (Drain Tank Full): When the chassis is full of water, the unit automatically shuts off. A buzzer will sound for 8 seconds, and "H8" will be displayed on the remote controller.
  • X-FAN Function (C11) (Internal Drying Operation): When activated in Cool or Dehumidify mode, the indoor fan continues to operate for a few minutes after the unit is turned off to dry the indoor unit and prevent mold. This function is not available in Auto or Fan mode.
  • Sleep Mode Operation (C2): In Cooling mode, the preset temperature increases by 1°C per hour for 2 hours, then maintains that temperature. In Heating mode (for TAD-2235E), the preset temperature decreases by 1°C within 1 hour and by 2°C within 2 hours, then maintains that temperature. This function is only for Cool and Heat modes.
  • WiFi Function (C20): Allows the unit to be controlled via WiFi. The WiFi module can be reset to factory default settings.
  • Child Lock Function: Can be activated or deactivated via the remote control to prevent unintended operation.
  • Light Button (C14): Turns the display light ON or OFF.

Usage Features

  • Operating Temperature: The unit should be operated when the room temperature is between 16°C and 35°C. Below 16°C, ice may form on coils; above 35°C, the compressor automatically shuts off for protection.
  • Restart Delay: Always wait 3 minutes after turning the unit off before restarting it.
  • Airflow Adjustment: Horizontal louvers (A2) can be adjusted upward or downward (Fig. K1). Vertical louvers (A4) can be adjusted rightward or leftward (Fig. K2). Caution: Avoid setting louvers to extreme positions in Cool or Dehumidify mode with low fan speed for extended periods, as condensation may form.
  • Remote Control: The remote control (Fig. C) allows for operation of all unit functions. It displays set temperature and clock icon when the unit is OFF.
  • Timer/Temperature Adjust Button (C6): Increases or decreases set temperature by 1°C (1°F) with each press. Holding the button for 2 seconds changes the temperature quickly. In OFF status, pressing "▼" and "MODE" simultaneously switches between °C and °F. Temperature cannot be adjusted in auto mode.
  • Continuous Drainage: The unit offers two methods for continuous water drainage: from the bottom hole (Fig. I) or from the middle hole (Fig. J). Specific accessories and installation steps are provided for each method.
  • Power Supply Cord Hook (Fig. L): A hook is provided at the back of the unit to wind the power supply cord, preventing misplacement.

Maintenance Features

  • Air Filter (B10): A pre-filter protects the unit from dust. It should be cleaned every two weeks by pulling it off and using a vacuum cleaner (Fig. F).
  • Surface Cleaning: The outside of the unit should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. Avoid using gasoline, solvents, chemicals, or polish as they may damage the surface. Always disconnect power before cleaning.
  • Long-Term Storage: At the end of each season or when the unit will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to:
    1. Run the unit in "Fan" mode for 5-6 hours to dry the interior.
    2. Remove drain water from the chassis and unplug the unit.
    3. Clean the unit surface and the air intake grille (B10).
    4. Store the unit in its original shipping carton or covered with a large plastic bag in a cool, dry place.
    5. Always store the unit in a vertical position and avoid placing heavy objects on top.
  • Transportation: Preferably transport the unit in a vertical position. If horizontal placement is necessary for more than 1/2 hour, allow it to remain upright for 24 hours before operation to prevent compressor damage. Ensure the drain tank is empty before moving.
