Trikke EV Owner’s Manual - V5 06/30/14 - page 21
Turn the key clockwise to ON position (key cannot be removed), turn the key
counterclockwise to OFF position (key can be removed).
Charge the battery by plugging the charger plug connector to the battery’s charging port.
For longer life of the battery, charge the battery every time you can, avoid deep discharge
(using until it’s empty or keeping the battery discharged for long period).
Operation in low speed will also contribute to a longer life of the battery. Hot or cold
weather will decrease the capacity of the battery.
Store the battery in a dry place. If storing for long time, plug the battery to the charger once
every 90 days for 3hours.
Check the battery charge by pressing the dot on top of the battery. The LEDs will glow for
about 3 seconds showing from 25-100% charge level. SOC (state of charge) must be checked
under rest ( with no load from the motor).
Battery Operation
Ÿ When the battery is charging, the charger light stays red. When the battery is fully
charged, the charger light turns green. Note that when the charger is disconnected from the
battery, the charger will turn green too. Green light can also mean a bad connection.
Ÿ Good practice would be plugging in the battery at every opportunity and keep the
battery always with a good level of charge.
Ÿ
Always disconnect the power cord and charger by pulling the plug, not the cord.
Ÿ
Unplug the charger when not in use.
Ÿ 5 hours and 0.4 kWh are necessary to fully charge a discharged battery 36V-9Ah.
Ÿ
5 hours and 0.7 kWh are necessary to fully charge a discharged battery 48V-11.25Ah.
Ÿ The lithium-ion battery included with the Trikke EV has a useful life of 500 complete
cycles of operation with a performance above 70% of original capacity. A complete cycle is
one complete discharge and recharge.
14. To remove the battery from the Trikke EV, push the key in and turn to the unlock position.
Pull the handle of the battery up toward the handlebars. The battery should slide freely up
the battery rail until the battery is loose. Reverse these instructions to install the battery.
