Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Triumph Competition Volleyball Set, model number 35-7415. It provides assembly instructions, a parts list, game rules, and maintenance guidelines for the volleyball set.

Function Description:

The Triumph Competition Volleyball Set is designed for recreational and competitive volleyball play. It includes all necessary components to set up a regulation-sized volleyball court, allowing users to enjoy the sport in various outdoor settings. The set emphasizes ease of assembly and tensioning to ensure a proper playing experience.

Important Technical Specifications:

The set includes the following components:

  • 3-Piece Steel Poles (P1): Two poles are provided, designed to be extended to the desired height for the net. The poles are constructed from steel for durability and stability.
  • Competition Side Strap Volleyball Net (P2): One net is included, featuring pole straps that allow the poles to slide through for secure attachment.
  • Competition Guyline with Tensioner (P3): Two guylines are provided. These are crucial for stabilizing the poles and tensioning the net. They include tensioners for easy adjustment.
  • Ground Stakes (P4): Four ground stakes are included to anchor the guylines and boundary line securely into the ground.
  • Boundary Line with Corner Anchors (P5): One boundary line is included to define the playing area. It comes with corner anchors to mark the court dimensions. The court dimensions are specified as 30 feet wide by 60 feet in total length.
  • Sports Bag (P6): One sports bag is provided for convenient storage and transport of all components.
  • Volleyball (P7): One volleyball is included, ready for play.
  • Pump with Needle Compartment and Needle (P8): One pump with a needle is included for inflating the volleyball.

Usage Features:

The manual outlines a straightforward assembly process:

  1. Securing Guylines: The net's pole straps are slipped over the extended poles. The "S" hook of the guyline is attached to the eyebolt at the top of each pole. The poles are positioned upright, with their bottoms pitched slightly toward the center of the court. Guylines are lightly tensioned at a 45-degree angle, approximately 9 to 10 feet (3m) apart, and anchored with steel ground stakes.
  2. Net Tensioning: With the base of the pole angled toward and aligned with the center of the court by approximately 18 inches, the plastic guyline tensioner is pulled down to tension the guyline system. The poles are then slid to an upright position to maximize net tension.
  3. Installing Boundary: The boundary line is laid out onto the play area. The four corner anchors are positioned in each corner of the play area, squaring the corners, and inserted into the ground. This creates a court measuring 30 feet wide by 60 feet long.

The manual also includes comprehensive volleyball game rules, covering:

  • Scoring: Games are typically played to 11 or 15 points, with competitive matches often being best of three games (first two to 21, third to 15).
  • Court Exchanging: Teams exchange courts at specified point intervals (e.g., every 5 points in a 15-point game, every 4 points in an 11-point game, every 7 points in a 21-point game).
  • Rally Point Scoring: Points are scored on every rally, regardless of which team served, if the opposing team fails to serve properly, return the ball, or commits a fault.
  • Ball Play: Definitions of "ball in" (first contact with ground on court or boundary line) and "ball out" (first contact outside court, touching objects outside court, antennas, ropes, posts, or net outside antennas).
  • Team Contacts: Each team is allowed a maximum of three contacts to return the ball. A player cannot contact the ball consecutively, except during or after a block or on the team's first contact.
  • Contact Characteristics: Players can touch the ball with any part of the body. The ball must be contacted cleanly (not held, lifted, pushed, caught, carried, or thrown) and cannot roll or rest on a player's body, with an exception for defensive play of a hard-driven ball where it may be momentarily lifted or pushed.
  • Attack Hit: Actions directing the ball toward the opponent's playing area, excluding serving and blocking. Players cannot contact the ball within the opponent's playing space.
  • Block: An action at the net to deflect the ball. In doubles and triples, a block counts as a contact. In four- or six-person play, a block does not count as a team contact.
  • Simultaneous Contact: When two blocking teammates touch the ball simultaneously, it counts as one contact.
  • Faults: Includes assisted hits (player takes support), double contacts (player contacts ball twice consecutively or in different parts of the body successively), held balls (ball not cleanly contacted, or two players hold ball above net during block – replayed), player/net contact (fault if player or clothing touches net), reaching beyond the net while blocking (allowed if not interfering with opponent's play), and crossing the center line (allowed if not interfering with opponent's play). Intentional interference by opposing players is not permitted.

Maintenance Features:

The manual provides simple maintenance tips to ensure the longevity and smooth operation of the set:

  • Boundary Line: Though unlikely to knot, the boundary line can tangle and should be carefully wound up after each use to prevent damage and ensure readiness for the next game.
  • Telescopic Poles and Push Buttons: Poles should be inspected for dirt and debris after each use. Keeping the push buttons clean is essential for their smooth operation, allowing for easy height adjustment and disassembly.

The product comes with a Limited 90-Day Escalade Sports Warranty, covering defects in materials and construction. Customers are advised to keep their purchase receipt for warranty claims and contact Escalade Sports customer service for any concerns or technical support.
