Torque Stays.
Fit the stays to the engine bolts and tighten the bolt nuts and
frame lug bolt.
Installing the Engine
~~~nt Engine Plates Cover.
Position over the studs and insert the two remaining
Oil
Pipes. Connect the main oil pipes from oil tank
to
crankcase and the rocker
pipes to the rocker spindles.

Footrest.
Loosely assemble
to
spindle.
studs and secure with their respective nuts.
At this stage, tighten both rear and
front engine plate stud nuts.
Primary Chaincase, Alternator, Clutch
and
Engine Sprocket. Fit the short
distance piece over the footrest spindie and assemble the primary chaincase inner.
Fit the primary chaincase outer, clutch and engine sprocket
as
described on page
90.
L.H.
Footrest. Assemble to spindle and tighten both
L.H.
and
R.H.
spindle nuts.
Fcotbrake Pedal.
Fit to the spindle and replace the spring washer, plain washer
and finally secure with the nut. Connect the operating rod to pedal and secure
with the plain washer and split-pin.
Ensure that the split-pin
is
locked.
Engage
the stop lamp switch spring to the pedal fixing.
Control Cables. Re-connect the respective cables to handlebar and frame fittings.
Exhaust System. Fit to engine and frame the exhaust pipe and silencer assemblies
making sure that the connecting bolts, etc., are fully tightened.
Petrol
Tank.
Replace the tank and secure with the four bolts and eight rubber
buffer pads. Connect the petrol pipes. The bolts should be locked by wiring the
two rear and the two front together.
Twinseat.
Fit in position and replace and tighten the front and rear fixing bolts.
Oil
Tahk. REPLENISH.
NOTE
When the
motorcycle has covered the
first
250
mi!es after
its
overhaul,
it
is
wise to check
all
nuts and bolts to ensure that they
have not become loose due to the engine "bedding down".
