Overview

The MicrodermMD is a professional-grade home microdermabrasion system designed to reveal fresh, radiant skin by buffing away dull and dead skin cells. It utilizes a combination of diamond exfoliation and gentle suction to polish and revitalize the skin, aiming for an instantly softer, smoother complexion in as little as 5 minutes. Regular use of the MicrodermMD is intended to deeply exfoliate the skin, improve skincare absorption, invigorate the complexion, smooth and soften the skin, polish and revitalize, buff away dull and rough patches, and improve overall skin radiance.

The device features a 5X magnifying mirror, a power button, and a start/stop button for ease of use. An LCD screen displays important information during treatments. The main treatment component is the Diamond Tip, which attaches to a plastic wand. A mode selector button allows users to choose between different treatment settings, and a level/area button helps customize the experience.

For initial setup and preparation, users should first read the entire User Manual and contact Trophy Skin with any questions. The power adaptor needs to be plugged into a wall outlet and then into the power port at the back of the MicrodermMD, ensuring the red LED light above the Power button illuminates. Any protective film on the magnifying mirror or LCD screen should be removed. Before starting, the Diamond Tip should be removed to check that a clean black wool filter is in place on the end of the plastic wand. The Diamond Tip is then pushed flush against the plastic wand, ensuring no visible gap. Finally, pressing the Power button will cycle the motor on.

An important step before the first use is to perform a skin sensitivity test. This involves using custom mode set to level 5 and gliding the diamond tip across the inner forearm. If hairline scratches or uncomfortable irritation are noticed after 15 minutes, users are advised to contact Trophy Skin for a fine tip designed for sensitive skin.

The MicrodermMD offers three distinct modes:

  • Sensitive Mode: This mode is specifically designed for beginners and those with sensitive skin. It is recommended for the first 2-3 treatments to help users get accustomed to the process. This 5-minute treatment guides users step-by-step through treating the entire face, neck, and chest.
  • Auto Mode: For users without sensitive skin or those seeking a more aggressive treatment, Auto Mode provides a simple step-by-step 5-minute treatment that is easy to follow.
  • Manual Mode: Once users have mastered microdermabrasion, Manual Mode offers full control, allowing for customized treatments, use on body areas, or use with other Diamond Tip accessories.

To use the device, users are encouraged to watch the online "How To" video for tips and tricks. After selecting a mode, the Start/Stop button is pressed. The plastic wand should be held like a pencil, with the Diamond Tip pressed against the skin. Short, even strokes, approximately 2-3 inches long, are used to glide the Diamond Tip across the skin's surface. It's crucial to ensure the Diamond Tip is flush with the skin to feel the gentle suction. The skin should be braced with the free hand while gliding the Diamond Tip across the skin.

Specific instructions are provided for different facial areas:

  • Forehead: Stroke outwards and upwards with horizontal strokes.
  • Around Eyes: Stroke downwards between the eye and ear, outwards on the temple, and below the eye. Users are cautioned not to stroke the eyelid and to stay outside the eye orbit.
  • Nose: Cover the entire nose.
  • Cheeks: Stroke with the Diamond Tip, bracing the skin with the other hand.
  • Around Lips: Follow the indicated arrows, avoiding contact with the lips with the Diamond Tip.

After treatment, the Diamond Tip should be gently slid off, and the black wool filter discarded. A new filter should be replaced immediately. The Diamond Tip should be cleaned with the included wire brush after every treatment. Periodically, it can be cleaned with an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, a sonic toothbrush, or with soap and water, then allowed to air dry before being pushed back onto the plastic wand, ensuring it is completely flush. After cleaning the tip, the face should be washed with cold water to remove any remaining debris and gently patted dry. Finally, applying the Argan Stem Cell Serum or another high-quality anti-aging serum immediately after treatment is recommended to soothe the skin and enhance treatment efficacy. Some redness and sensitivity may occur, usually subsiding within a few hours. The device can be used 2-3 times per week to maintain smooth and radiant skin.

The MicrodermMD also includes optional accessories to enhance its functionality:

  • Pore Extraction Tip: This plastic tip is used for areas with closed and open comedones. It extracts debris from or underneath the epidermis, leaving a clean, clear surface. It can be used before or after treatment on a clean, dry surface. Users should turn the MicrodermMD to Manual Mode, use Level 1, and gradually increase the level as comfortable. The skin should be held taut while gliding the tip across clogged areas.
  • Infusion Tip: This plastic tip helps penetrate skincare products deep into the epidermis and dermis by opening pores with the suction motor. It is used after treatment. Users can apply the Argan Stem Cell Serum, turn the MicrodermMD to Manual Mode, use Level 1, and move the tip in circular motions across the skin.
  • Fine Tip: This tip is for sensitive skin.
  • Body Tip: Designed for body treatments.
  • Precision Tip: For precise application.

The MicrodermMD is not limited to facial treatments and can be used on various body areas to improve dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. For body treatments, users should ensure the area is clean and dry. The MicrodermMD should be set to Manual Mode with a lower suction level, gradually increasing to a comfortable level. The diamond tip is then glided across the problematic area using short, quick strokes, similar to facial treatments, while holding the skin taut.

The device can be combined with other Trophy Skin products. It works well with light therapy devices, where the MicrodermMD provides deep exfoliation, and light therapy helps heal the skin and produce collagen. It can also be rotated with the Labelle Ultrasonic Skin Spatula for deep "powerwash" exfoliation, though it's important not to use both tools on the same day to avoid over-exfoliation and irritation. Trophy Skin's skincare line, including the Hydrating Facial Mist and Argan Stem Cell Serum, is designed to complement microdermabrasion treatments, providing hydration, reducing redness, and treating premature aging.

Troubleshooting guidance is provided for common issues:

  • Device won't turn on: Check if the power adaptor is securely plugged into the unit and a working outlet, and if the light above the "Power" button is illuminated. If not, a replacement power adaptor may be needed.
  • Device has lost suction: Inspect the Diamond Tip for hairline cracks, punctures, or spaces. Remove the Diamond Tip and ensure both rubber O-rings are in place. If cracks or missing O-rings are found, a replacement is necessary.
  • Diamond Tip isn't coarse enough: Over time, the Diamond Tip may accumulate skin cell build-up, making it feel smoother. Regular use of the included cleaning brush helps keep the tip clear of debris. The Diamond Tip should be replaced every 3-6 months, with replacements available on the Trophy Skin website.
