Why Troy-Bilt Tiller engine will not start?

  There are several reasons why your Troy-Bilt Tiller engine might not start: * The fuel tank may be empty. If this is the case, fill the fuel tank with new fuel. * The primer bulb may not have been pressed enough. Press the primer bulb fully and slowly 10 times. * The engine may be flooded. Pull the starter rope repeatedly with the throttle control fully engaged and the choke lever in Position 3. * The fuel may be old. Drain the gas tank and add fresh fuel. * The spark plug may be fouled. Replace or clean the spark plug. * The spark arrestor may be plugged. Clean or replace the spark arrestor. * The On/Off Control may be in the OFF (O) position. Move the switch to ON (I).

  If your Troy-Bilt Tiller engine lacks power or stalls under load, consider the following: * Old fuel: Drain the gas tank and add fresh fuel. * Improper carburetor adjustment: Take the unit to a Troy-Bilt or other qualified service dealer for an adjustment. * Fouled spark plug: Replace or clean the spark plug. * Plugged spark arrestor: Clean or replace the spark arrestor. * Low power: Rocker arm clearance adjustment (see page 18). * Cultivator tines bound with dirt or grass: Stop the unit, switch the On/Off Stop Control to STOP, and clean and remove any debris binding the tines.
