The Pretul DES-25P is a gasoline-powered string trimmer designed for cutting grass and light brush. It features a 2-cycle, air-cooled engine and is intended for outdoor use.
Function Description:
The DES-25P operates by rotating a cutting string at high speeds to trim vegetation. It is designed for ease of use with an anti-vibration auxiliary handle and a harness to support its weight during operation. The tool is started using a pull cord mechanism and controlled via a throttle trigger and lock. The cutting head is designed to release more string as it wears down by tapping it against the ground.

Fuel Specifications:
The string trimmer requires a mix of unleaded gasoline (87 octane or more) and high-quality self-propulsion oil with fuel stabilizer, specifically for air-cooled two-cycle motors. The recommended mix ratio is 40 parts gasoline to 1 part oil (40:1). It is crucial to prepare the mix in a gasoline-approved container and mix it thoroughly before pouring it into the motor tank. Users are warned against using fuel mix stored longer than 7 days, pre-mixed gasoline from service stations (like those for motorcycles), automotive oil, or 2-cycle outboard motor oil. Any attempt to start the string trimmer without oil in the fuel mix will cause damage to the motor. For prolonged motor life, synthetic two-cycle motor oil is recommended.
Usage Features:
- Safety First: Users are strongly advised to read and understand the entire manual before use to ensure safety, prolong tool life, and validate the warranty.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear eye protection, a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, a helmet, ear plugs, and safety gloves to reduce the risk of injury.
- Work Area: Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-lit work area. Keep children, bystanders, and animals at least 15 meters (50 feet) away from the operating area.
- Fuel Handling: Never smoke near fuel or the fueling area. Handle fuel with care as it is highly flammable. Ensure the motor is completely cool before refueling.
- Starting Procedure (Cold Motor): Place the trimmer on level ground, away from obstacles. Set the switch to the "on" position, press and release the primer bulb 6 times, move the choke lever to the "||" position, pull the starter cord 3 to 5 times until fuel enters the motor, then press the lock and throttle trigger, and pull the starter cord quickly and forcefully to start the motor. Once the motor starts, return the choke lever to the "|||" position and allow the motor to idle for a few minutes.
- Starting Procedure (Hot Motor): Set the switch to the "on" position, move the choke lever to the "|||" position, press the lock and throttle trigger, and pull the starter cord until the motor starts. Release the lock and throttle trigger to set the motor running idle.
- Operation: Hold the trimmer with both hands, using the harness for support. Keep both feet firmly on the ground. The cutting head should be pointed downwards, below waist level, and never raised more than 75 cm (2.4 feet) from the ground. Cut grass from left to right, rotating the waist. To release more string, lightly tap the cutting head against the ground.
- Turning Off: Release the lock and throttle trigger, allow the motor to idle for 10-15 seconds, then set the switch to the "off" position until the motor stops.
- Assembly: The anti-vibration auxiliary handle and guard must be installed correctly. The guard should be installed before the string spool. Ensure all parts are properly aligned and secured.
Maintenance Features:
- General Cleaning: Regularly clean ventilation slots, motor cylinder wings, and fan wings to prevent overheating.
- Air Filter: Remove and clean the air filter by tapping it, blowing with compressed air, or washing it with lukewarm soapy water. Ensure it is dry before reinstallation.
- Fuel Filter: Check and replace the fuel filter frequently if dirty. Rinse the gas tank with gasoline if its interior is dirty.
- Carburetor Adjustment: Carburetor adjustments should be performed by a Truper Authorized Service Center to avoid damage and warranty voidance.
- Spark Plug Replacement: With a cold motor, loosen and remove the old spark plug. Insert the new spark plug, pressing lightly, and tighten it half a turn with the spanner. Be careful not to damage the spark plug thread.
- Exhaust and Muffler Cleansing: Carbon deposits can clog the exhaust and muffler, leading to power loss. These deposits should be removed by a Truper Authorized Service Center. The anti-spark screen inside the muffler may also need replacement after prolonged use. Regularly check that muffler fasteners are secure and that there is no damage or corrosion.
- Storage: For storage longer than a month, drain all fuel from the tank into an approved container. Run the motor until all remaining fuel is consumed to prevent gum formation. Clean the tool thoroughly and store it in a ventilated space, away from corrosive agents and out of reach of children. Comply with all government rules for fuel handling and storage.
Warranty:
The product, its parts, and components are covered by a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects in material, workmanship, or function. The warranty is void if the product is used under abnormal conditions, operated contrary to the manual, or altered/repaired by non-certified personnel. The warranty can be claimed at the point of purchase or at any Truper Authorized Service Center by presenting the product and a duly stamped warranty policy or proof of purchase. Truper covers transportation expenses if the consumer's address is outside the network of authorized service centers.
