Summary

Operating Instructions

Installation

Tulikivi Lightweight fireplace may only be installed by an authorized Tulikivi installer. Installation must comply with local regulations.

Fuel

Use only dry firewood. The moisture content of dry wood is 15-20%. All wood species and wood-based briquettes are suitable fuel.

First Firing

Start firing as advised. The protective varnish of the fireplace insert hardens during the first heating. Odors may occur, so ensure that the room is properly ventilated.

Lighting the Fire

Start the heating of the fireplace by placing dry kindling on top of firestarters. Light the firestarters and close the door.

Normal Use Procedures

Covers ash box emptying, draft checking, and general firing procedures for regular operation.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Door and Door Glass

Clean the door glass with glass cleaning fluid or ash and moistened kitchen paper towels. Clean only when cold.

Cleaning the Soapstone Surface

The soapstone surface can be washed with ordinary household cleansers. Use stain remover for tough stains on smooth surfaces.

Fireproof Panels in the Firebox

Small fractures in panels do not affect function, but a panel must be changed if broken or badly chipped.

Creosote Formation and Removal

Creosote buildup from slow burning needs inspection and removal to reduce chimney fire risk.

Safety and Installation Clearances

Using the Air Controls

Instructions on operating the start-up and primary air control levers for optimal combustion.

Safety Notice

Warning about house fires if not properly installed. Do not use flammable liquids to start fires. Keep combustibles away.

Clearance Requirements

Specifies minimum distances to combustibles for standard residential installation (singlewall connector).
