The Turbosound Milan Series is a range of powered loudspeakers and subwoofers designed for professional audio applications. This Quickstart Guide covers the M10, M12, M15, M15B, and M18B models, offering detailed information on their functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Milan Series loudspeakers are designed to provide high-quality audio with excellent pattern control, superior audio quality, proven reliability, and comprehensive warranty. They are suitable for various applications, including PA systems, floor monitors, and installations.
The M10, M12, and M15 are full-range powered loudspeakers, each featuring a two-channel mixer with combo XLR/jack inputs for microphones, instruments, and line-level sources. They include a Mix Out for connecting additional Milan loudspeakers, a 100 Hz Low Cut switch for use with subwoofers or as floor monitors, and a Program switch to optimize frequency response for either voices (Speech) or mixed music program material (Music). Tone controls (Bass and Treble) allow for fine-tuning the sound.
The M15B and M18B are powered subwoofers, designed to extend the low-frequency response of a Milan system. They feature two combo XLR/jack inputs for connection to a mixing console, and two XLR Thru outputs for routing full-range audio signals to Milan two-way loudspeakers or additional Milan subwoofers. Key controls include a Level control, a Polarity switch to optimize phase alignment with mid/high loudspeakers, and a Boost switch with a variable Boost Frequency control to enhance bass response.

Usage Features
Milan M10, M12, M15 Loudspeakers:
- Integrated Mixer: Two-channel mixer allows simultaneous use of two low impedance dynamic microphones, a microphone and a line level source, or two line level sources.
- Flexible Inputs: Combo XLR/jack connectors accept both XLR and 1/4" jack plugs for balanced or unbalanced sources.
- Mix Out: Balanced line level XLR output for connecting additional powered Milan loudspeakers, carrying a post-EQ mix of all connected sources.
- 100 Hz Low Cut Switch: Engages a fourth-order low cut filter at 100 Hz, useful for floor monitoring or when used with subwoofers to avoid boominess and allow bass frequencies to be routed to sub-bass speakers.
- Program Switch: Selects between "Speech" (optimized for voices) and "Music" (optimized for mixed music program material) frequency response contours.
- Tone Controls (Bass & Treble): Provide ±6 dB of shelving at 80 Hz (Bass) and 12 kHz (Treble) for sound shaping.
- Level Control: Rotary control to adjust the input signal level of connected instruments/line sources.
- Mic/Line Switch: Selects input impedance and gain for each channel (low level, low impedance microphone or high level, high impedance source). Note: Not suitable for condenser microphones that require phantom power.
- Indicators:
- Power On Indicator (Blue LED): Illuminates when mains power is applied.
- Signal Indicator (Green LED): Illuminates when signal level reaches -6 dB.
- Limit Indicator (Red LED): Illuminates when the system limiting starts working. Occasional flashing is normal; prolonged illumination indicates excessive input signal.
- Front LED Status: The illuminated front badge can be toggled permanently on, permanently off, or to indicate limiting circuits.
- Loudspeaker Placement: Can be used on speaker stands, on top of subwoofers, or wall-mounted using the PB-55 pole mount wall bracket. Dual-angle pole holder allows for downward angling. For optimal sound, place loudspeakers in front of microphones and raise them above audience head level.
Milan M15B, M18B Subwoofers:
- Dedicated Low-Frequency Extension: Designed to provide powerful bass reinforcement for Milan full-range loudspeakers.
- Thru Connections: Independent full-range audio signals from each input channel are provided on balanced male XLR connectors for loop-through connections to Milan two-way loudspeakers or additional Milan subwoofers.
- Polarity Switch: Reverses the polarity of the subwoofer relative to the two-way Milan loudspeakers, allowing for optimal phase alignment and subjective integration, especially when loudspeakers are not physically in line.
- Boost Switch & Boost Freq Control: Provides +3 dB of bass lift centered at a user-selectable frequency from 40 Hz to 90 Hz.
- Level Control: Rotary control to adjust the input signal level and balance with mid/high loudspeakers.
- Indicators:
- Power On Indicator (Blue LED): Illuminates when mains power is applied.
- Signal Indicator (Green LED): Illuminates when signal is present.
- Limit Indicator (Red LED): Flashes red when system limiting occurs; prolonged illumination indicates excessive input signal.
