Overview

The Tusk X-Small/Small Dry Duffel Bag is a high-quality, waterproof storage solution designed for adventure riding, suitable for use with most top racks and Tusk rackless pannier systems. This manual provides detailed instructions for packing and mounting the duffel bag, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Tusk Dry Duffel Bag is to provide secure and waterproof storage for items during motorcycle adventures. Its design emphasizes ease of use, durability, and adaptability to various mounting configurations. The bag features a roll-top closure system, which is crucial for achieving its waterproof capabilities, and multiple attachment points for secure mounting to a motorcycle.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Waterproofness: The main compartment of the bag is designed to be fully waterproof when the roll-top closure is properly executed with a minimum of three folds (1.5 rolls).
  • Water Resistance: The front zipper pocket is noted as water-resistant, not fully waterproof, indicating it's suitable for items that can tolerate some moisture exposure or for quick access items in less severe conditions.
  • Mounting System: The bag utilizes a strap-based mounting system designed to loop around/through a top rack and back through themselves. It also incorporates designated Daisy Chain Webbing for enhanced security, preventing the bag from falling off the motorcycle.
  • Compression: The design allows for significant compression of the bag's contents, which helps in stabilizing the load and maintaining a compact profile. This is achieved by rolling the top tighter and clipping the buckles, repeating until the bag is firmly compressed.
  • Material: While not explicitly stated, the visual evidence suggests a durable, possibly PVC-coated or similar waterproof fabric, given its intended use in demanding outdoor environments. The buckles and straps appear to be robust, designed for secure fastening and load-bearing.

Usage Features:

Packing the Tusk Dry Duffel Bag:

  1. Item Placement: Begin by placing desired items inside the bag. (Fig. 1)
  2. Roll-Top Closure: Roll the top of the bag downwards until the roll reaches the top of the items. It is critical to achieve a minimum of three folds (1.5 rolls) to ensure the bag's waterproof integrity. (Fig. 2)
  3. Buckle Fastening: Pull the buckles from both sides of the rolled top across and clip them together. (Fig. 3)
  4. Compression Adjustment: If the bag is not sufficiently tight, unclip the buckles, roll the bag tighter, and then re-clip the buckles. Repeat this process until the bag is firmly compressed and stable.
  5. Pocket Awareness: Remember that the front zipper pocket offers only water resistance, while the main compartment is waterproof when properly rolled.

Mounting Tusk Dry Duffel Bag to a Top Rack:

  1. Pre-Mounting Check: Ensure the bag is fully compressed and tight before mounting.
  2. Rack Compatibility: The bag is designed to be compatible with most top racks and Tusk rackless pannier systems.
  3. Strap Looping: Loop the mounting straps around or through the top rack and then back through themselves. (Fig. 4, Fig. 5)
  4. Four-Corner Attachment: Securely strap the Tusk X-Small/Small Dry Duffel Bag onto the top rack using straps from all four corners of the top rack. (Fig. 6, Fig. 7)
  5. Daisy Chain Webbing: Crucially, ensure that the straps are looped through the designated Daisy Chain Webbing on the bag. This feature is vital for preventing the duffel bag from dislodging and falling off the motorcycle during transit. (Fig. 6, Fig. 7)
  6. Webbing Section Selection: Depending on the width of your specific top rack, select and use the appropriate Webbing sections on the duffel bag that align with the rack's width for optimal stability. (Fig. 6)
  7. Final Tightening: Tighten both mounting straps firmly until the bag is compressed against the top rack and feels secure, preventing any movement during riding. (Fig. 8)

Maintenance Features:

  • Excess Strap Management: It is imperative to tie off or secure any excess strap material. This prevents the straps from getting entangled in the rear wheel, chain, or coming into contact with hot exhaust components, which could cause damage or pose a safety hazard.
  • Pre-Ride Inspection: Before each ride and periodically throughout your adventures, inspect the luggage. Contents can shift during travel, potentially causing straps to loosen. Regular checks ensure the bag remains securely fastened and prevents loss or damage.
  • Replacement Parts: In the event of wear or damage to straps or buckles, replacements can be obtained by referring to www.rockymountainatvmc.com. This suggests that components are designed to be replaceable, extending the lifespan of the duffel bag.

The Tusk Dry Duffel Bag is engineered for reliability and ease of use, making it an essential accessory for motorcycle enthusiasts seeking dependable storage for their gear in various riding conditions. Adhering to the packing and mounting instructions, along with regular maintenance checks, will ensure the best possible experience and prolong the life of the product.
