Overview

This document describes the TZS FIRSTAUSTRIA® FA-5628-7 Steam Iron, a household appliance designed for smoothing wrinkles and creases from clothing. It is not intended for commercial or industrial use.

Function Description

The steam iron offers both dry ironing and steam ironing capabilities, along with several enhanced features to improve the ironing experience:

  • Steam Ironing: This function is used at higher ironing temperatures. Water is filled into the iron's tank, and once the desired temperature is reached (indicated by the pilot light turning off), steam is released through the soleplate by adjusting the steam control knob. If the temperature is too low during steam ironing, water may leak from the soleplate, so it's crucial to select the appropriate temperature.
  • Burst of Steam: This feature provides an extra surge of steam to tackle stubborn wrinkles. It is used after filling the water tank and reaching the maximum ironing temperature. By pressing the burst of steam button, steam penetrates the garment. This function can also be used for vertical ironing of items like curtains or hung garments.
  • Dry Ironing: For dry ironing, the steam control knob should be set to the "no steam" position. The iron is connected to the mains, and the desired temperature is selected using the temperature dial. Once the pilot light turns off, the iron is ready for use.
  • Spraying: This function allows for misting the garment with water, which can be used at any time and does not affect the ironing temperature. Water is filled into the iron, and the spray button is pressed to direct a fine mist onto the fabric.
  • Anti-Drip System: The iron is equipped with an anti-drip function that automatically stops steaming when the temperature is too low. This prevents water from dripping onto the soleplate and staining garments.
  • Anti-Calc System: This function filters minerals from the water to prevent mineral residue buildup in the steam chamber, thus extending the life and efficiency of the iron.
  • Self-Cleaning Function: This feature helps remove scale and impurities from the iron. It is recommended to use it every two weeks, or more frequently in areas with very hard water. The process involves filling the water tank to maximum, setting the iron to the highest temperature, and then, once unplugged, holding it over a sink while pressing the self-clean button and gently shaking the iron. Steam and boiling water, along with impurities, will be flushed out through the soleplate.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power: 2200-2600W
  • Power Supply: 220-240V, 50-60Hz
  • Safety Class: I
  • Water Tank: Features a "MAX" water level indicator.
  • Soleplate: Designed to be kept smooth and clean, avoiding hard contact with metal objects.

Usage Features

  • Water Choice: For areas with hard water, distilled or demineralized water is recommended. Chemical descaled water, chemical additives, scented substances, or decalcifiers should never be used, as this can void the guarantee.
  • Filling Water: The steam control knob must be in the "no steam" position before filling water through the inlet up to the "MAX" level. The water tank should be emptied after each use.
  • Temperature Control: The iron features a temperature dial (8) and a ready light (10). The pilot light indicates when the selected temperature is being maintained, turning off when the desired temperature is reached and cycling on and off during use.
  • Fabric Settings: The manual provides a table with recommended temperature settings for various fabrics (Acetate/Nylon, Silk/Nylon, Rayon, Wool/Polyester, Cottons, Linen), indicating whether to dry iron or steam iron, and specific instructions like ironing on the reverse side or using a pressing cloth. It is advised to sort laundry by fabric type and start ironing with fabrics requiring the lowest temperature, progressing to higher ones.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always disconnect the iron from the wall outlet when filling or emptying water, or when not in use.
    • The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.
    • Do not use the iron if it has been dropped, shows visible signs of damage, or is leaking.
    • The surface of the iron is liable to get hot during use; caution is advised to prevent burns.
    • Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children under 8 years of age, especially when energized or cooling down.
    • Never leave the iron unattended while connected to the supply mains.
    • Do not immerse the iron or cord in water or any other liquid.
    • Do not touch hot metal parts, hot water, or steam.
    • Ensure the plug and cord do not touch the hot soleplate.
    • Allow the iron to cool completely before storage.
    • Do not operate other high-voltage appliances on the same circuit to avoid overload.
    • Only use approved extension cords rated for appropriate amperage (10A in Europe, 15A in America).
    • Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, can use the appliance if supervised and instructed on safe use and associated hazards. Children should not play with or perform cleaning/maintenance on the appliance without supervision.
