This document is a user guide and service manual for the U-Line Modular 3000 Series, specifically the 3018CLR 18" Clear Ice Machine. It provides comprehensive information on safety, installation, operation, maintenance, and service.
Function Description:
The U-Line 3018CLR is an 18-inch clear ice machine designed for indoor/interior applications. It produces clear ice cubes and is engineered for seamless integration into standard 24" (610 mm) depth cabinet bases. The unit features an advanced OLED display control for adjusting temperature set points, accessing Energy Saver Mode, and viewing internal temperature readings. It is also Star-K certified for Sabbath Mode use. The ice machine can be configured for either gravity drain or with a factory-installed P60 drain pump, depending on the model.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Dimensions:
- Width: 17-3/4" (450 mm)
- Depth (not including handle): 24" (610 mm)
- Height: 33-11/16" to 34-11/16" (856 mm to 881 mm)
- Grille/Plinth Height: 3-5/16" (84 mm) to 4-5/16" (110 mm)
- Electrical Requirements: Grounded and polarized 115 VAC, 60 Hz, 15A power supply (normal household current). An individual, properly grounded branch circuit or circuit breaker is recommended. GFCI is generally not required for fixed location appliances but local codes should be consulted.
- Water Supply: Standard 1/4" (6.35 mm) compression fitting. Water pressure should be between 20 and 120 psi (138 and 827 kPa). Connect to cold water supply only. A 10' (3 m) braided flexible water supply line is included.
- Drain: Gravity drain requires a 1" drop per 48" (2 cm drop per 100 cm) of run and must be vented per local code. Models with a factory-installed P60 drain pump can lift water up to 10 feet.
- Operating Ambient Temperature: Designed to operate between 50°F (10°C) and 100°F (38°C). Damages caused by ambient temperatures of 40°F (4°C) or below are not covered by the warranty.
- Ice Production: Produces 32 clear ice cubes in a 4x8 slab per cycle. Each cycle takes approximately 15-20 minutes at the default cube thickness.
- Compressor (EMU30HSC):
- Refrigerant: R134a
- Voltage: 115 VAC
- Frequency: 60 Hz
- Run Cap: 12µF/180 VAC
- Start Winding: 7.0 Ohm at 77°F
- Run Winding: 8.4 Ohm at 77°F
- LRA: 5.5 A
- FLA: 1.0 A
- Starting Device: 8EA14C
- Overload: 4TM197NFBYY-53
- Thermistors: Uses Type 1 thermistors for Ice Bin and Ambient temperature readings, and Type 2 thermistors for Condenser Line Out temperature readings. Resistance values vary with temperature and are provided in tables for diagnostic purposes.
Usage Features:
- Control Operation: Features a U-Select® Control with a digital OLED display.
- First Use: Initial startup requires language and temperature unit selection. U-Line recommends discarding ice produced during the first 2-3 hours of operation.
- Power On/Off: Press and hold for 5 seconds to turn off; simply press to turn on.
- U-Select Lighting: Adjustable brightness (Low, Medium, High) and timer settings ("On With Door", "On 3 Hours", "On 6 Hours", or "On 24 Hours").
- Customer Menu: Accesses advanced features like Energy Saver Mode, Sabbath Mode, actual temperature readings, and factory default restoration.
- Energy Saver Mode: Reduces overall energy consumption by limiting ice stored and decreasing lighting.
- Actual Temps: Displays real-time ice bin, condenser, and ambient temperatures.
- Languages: Supports English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.
- Sound Level: Four settings for audible alarms and alert tones (High, Medium, Low, Off).
- Fahrenheit / Celsius: Toggle temperature display units.
- Clean Cycle: Initiates an automatic cleaning process.
- Silent Mode: Halts ice production for 3 hours after the current cycle completes.
- Ice Adjust: Adjusts ice thickness by adding or subtracting up to 5 minutes of ice production time.
- Door Features:
- Door Stop: Shipped with a 115° door swing, but an optional 90° pin can be installed.
- Closer: Self-closing feature engages when the door is open approximately 6" (150 mm).
- Door Reversing: Instructions provided for reversing the door swing.
- Door Alignment: Adjustable to ensure proper sealing and prevent frost/condensation.
- Installation: Designed for built-in installation, requiring no additional air space on top, sides, or rear. The front grille must not be obstructed. Adjustable doors, leveling legs, and grille assist in fine-tuning installation. Anti-tip bracket installation is mandatory.
Maintenance Features:
- Exterior Cleaning:
- Stainless Models: Clean monthly with a good quality all-in-one stainless steel cleaner and polish (e.g., Claire® Stainless Steel Polish and Cleaner). Avoid steel wool pads, chlorine gas, pool chemicals, saltwater, or cleaners with bleach. Address discoloring or rusting promptly with nonabrasive cleaners like Bon-Ami® or Barkeepers Friend Cleanser®.
- Integrated Models: Clean panels according to cabinet manufacturer's recommendations.
- Glass Surfaces: Clean with a non-chlorine glass cleaner.
- Interior Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a mild nonabrasive detergent and warm water solution with a soft sponge. Rinse thoroughly. Avoid solvent-based or abrasive cleaners.
- Clear Ice Maker Cleaning Cycle: Equipped with an automatic clean alert function. Cleaning cycles should be run as notified, or every three months. Use only U-Line Ice Machine Cleaner (Part No. 37050). Discard all ice produced in the first harvest after cleaning.
- Condenser Cleaning: Every six months, clean the condenser coil using a vacuum, soft brush, or compressed air. Do not use any cleaner on the condenser unit.
- Extended Non-Use: For prolonged shutdowns, remove contents, disconnect power, turn off water supply, thaw ice, clean and dry the interior, disconnect water and drain lines, and leave the door open a minimum of 2" (50 mm) to prevent mold/mildew.
- Winterization: If exposed to temperatures of 40°F (5°C) or less, follow extended non-use steps and drain the P60 drain pump (if applicable).
