Overview

The UltraSecure PROTECT 800 is a wireless vehicle detection probe designed to monitor vehicle movement with an 800m transmission range. This device is equipped with an IP56 weatherproof control box, making it suitable for outdoor use in various environmental conditions.

Function Description:

The PROTECT 800 system primarily functions as a vehicle detection unit. It utilizes a sensor probe installed underground to detect the presence and movement of vehicles. Upon detection, the control box transmits a wireless signal to a compatible receiver (not included), triggering an alert or action. The device features an N/Open output relay, allowing it to be connected to third-party devices such as GSM dialers for remote notification or other security systems. The system is designed to be compatible with other Protect 800 equipment, enabling integration into a broader security setup.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Transmission Range: 800m wireless transmission.
  • Power Source: Requires 3 CR123A batteries, inserted into the battery compartment within the control box.
  • Weatherproof Rating: IP56 weatherproof control box, providing protection against dust and water ingress.
  • Output Relay: N/Open (Normally Open) output relay for connecting to external devices.
  • Adjustable Sensitivity: Allows users to fine-tune the detection sensitivity to optimize performance and minimize false triggers.
  • Adjustable Interval Timer: Enables setting the re-set time before the system can be triggered again, with options for 3s, 5s, and 9s.
  • Sensor Probe Installation: The sensor probe should be installed 1-2 inches (25-50 mm) under the roadside verge, in-line with the driving direction.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The control box should be mounted at a height above any possible flood level. The sensing probe cable connects to the box. For optimal protection against water ingress, silicone sealant should be used around the wire outlets.
  • Powering On: To power on the device, slide the power switch to the "ON" position. Pressing the test button will cause the LED to light up, confirming power.
  • Pairing: To pair the device with a receiver, set the receiver to pairing mode. Then, press the test button inside the control box to initiate pairing. Follow the receiver's instructions to complete the operation.
  • Sensitivity Adjustment: Users can adjust the sensitivity using a dedicated control. Higher sensitivity allows for longer detection distances but may increase susceptibility to interference and false triggers. It is recommended to adjust sensitivity until a passing car triggers the control box without causing false triggers.
  • Interval Setting: The trigger interval can be set to 3, 5, or 9 seconds, determining how long the system waits before it can be re-triggered.
  • Code Conflict Resolution: If the sensor transmitter's coding conflicts with another transmitter, the code can be changed. To do this, slide the power switch to "OFF," press and hold the test button, then slide the power switch to "ON." The LED will blink slowly five times, then quickly, indicating the code has changed. After changing the code, the sensor must be re-paired with the receiver.
  • Alternate Wire Outlets: The control box provides alternate lower or side wire outlets to suit different installation needs. Blanking plugs can be removed and replaced as required.
  • Security: After installation, the control box can be locked with a padlock to prevent outside interference.
  • Testing Operation: After installation, press the test button to verify that the receiver receives the signal. If no signal is received, the location of the device or receiver may need to be adjusted, or the device reinstalled.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: The device requires 3 CR123A batteries. Regular checking and replacement of these batteries will ensure continuous operation.
  • Environmental Protection: The IP56 weatherproof rating provides significant protection, but ensuring proper sealing of wire outlets with silicone sealant will further enhance protection against water ingress.
  • Probe Cable Protection: The sensor probe cable should be placed inside protective tubing to prevent damage from general wear, wildlife, or environmental factors.
  • Troubleshooting: If the receiver does not receive a signal during testing, troubleshooting steps include changing the location, reinstalling the device, or changing the receiver location.
  • Code Reset: The ability to change the device's code helps resolve conflicts with other transmitters, which can be a useful maintenance step for multi-device setups.
