13 | E-BIKE (EPAC) SPECIFIC FEATURES
UNNO range contains Electrically Power Assisted Cycles (EPAC), popularly known as e-bikes or
electric bicycles. Unlike “speed pedelec” bikes, which have other specs and regulations, the motor
of an EPAC only assists when the rider is pedalling. The motor stops assisting when a speed of
25km/h is reached. This applies in Europe, and regulations may vary on other countries. The bike
can also be ridden when the engine is turned off.
For more information about your country regulations for EPACs, don’t hesitate to contact our cus-
tomer service The e-bike has different assisting modes which can be changed even when pedal-
ling. None of them exceed 250W.
Be aware that e-bikes are slightly faster than normal pedal bikes. Moreover, they are also heavier.
This is the reason why riding e-bikes is more physically demanding when handling, pedalling and
braking.
Changing the components of an e-bike not only invalidates warranty, but also can break laws
and local regulations.
It is mandatory to read the motor and battery engine user manual before riding.
How to clean your e-bike:
Notice that e-bikes have electronic and electric parts. Never use any water pressure device as liq-
uid can penetrate inside battery and motor. In addition, don’t use any air pressure machine to dry
your bike. Instead, use a cloth and smoothly remove all dirt. We recommend using e-bike specific
products and follow the instructions of the product manufacturer for a more accurate cleaning.
Be specially carefully when cleaning your electric cycle.
Controls and display
Don’t get distracted by the display when riding.
Controls may vary depending on the model of the engine, motor and year.
Charging the battery
It is recommended to make at regular intervals, a thorough revision of the shock, dismantling all
the elements composing it, for its inspection, replacement and lubrication. The shocks are sophis-
ticated components, so the commission of this preventive maintenance service should be done by
a technical assistance centre authorized by the fork manufacturer.
Depending on the bicycle usage and the shock model, the time between preventive maintenance
services may vary, although it’s generally recommended to do it once a year. For more information,
follow the instructions in the shock manufacturer technical manual.
12 | MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
We recommend taking your bike to your dealer for annual revision. If you have any questions about
how to perform any of these checks, see the manual or talk to your dealer. This maintenance
schedule is based on normal use. If you use your bicycle in the rain or snow, or if you ride on paths,
more frequent maintenance is required. If any piece is damaged, inspect it and repair it immedi-
ately or talk to your dealer.
The tightening torque of the screws is often mentioned throughout the guide. It’s a force quantity,
which is used to define the tightening to which a bolt is screwed. The measurement is made by
means of a torque wrench.
The specified tightening torques are just an indication as they may vary over time, accordingly to
the usage that the parts and their threads have undergone.
It is important to use the torque specifications to prevent the threads from being tightened exces-
sively. Applying a torque greater than the recommended does not provide greater strength to the
joint between parts, but instead, it can cause the part to be damaged and become useless.
Do not apply a too high torque, or you may break the part or damage the thread.
It is very important that the bolts are screwed correctly. If you tighten them against an incorrectly
aligned part, you can damage its thread or the frame thread. Therefore, you should always start to
screw by hand and finish with the torque wrench.
Please be careful when cleaning the bike. Avoid high pressure machines and always use bike spe-
cific products. When cleaning e-bikes, please keep the plugs dry.
