of the “Adjustment and Maintenance Guide” and in the manuals of the component manufacturers.
The calendar of maintenance interventions is based on a normal use regime. If you make more
extreme or intensive use of the bicycle, or if you drive in adverse weather conditions, such as rain
and snow, maintenance should be more frequent than indicated on the calendar.
Store the bicycle in a suitable place
When not using the bicycle, leave it in an area protected from rain, snow, and sun. Rain and snow
can cause metal corrosion. The ultraviolet rays of the sun can discolour the paint and tear the rub-
ber or plastics of the bicycle. It is not convenient that the bicycle is exposed to too elevated tem-
peratures, as these can damage the bonding adhesive of the different components of the frame. It
is recommended to store the bike by lifting it off the ground and leaving the tires at medium pres-
sure. Do not leave the bicycle near electric motors. The ozone that the engines generate destroys
rubber and paint.
Protect the bicycle from thieves
Register your bicycle in the local police file by giving them your bicycle identification number.
UNNO maintains a registry that Unno maintains a registry that links the bicycle with its sole legal
owner only if the bike is successfully registered. Register your bike at unno.com.
Use a good padlock, resistant to knives and saws. Never leave the bike unlocked.
Avoid possible hits
Park your bike making sure it has a stable position and it can not fall. A fall could damage the
components or the frame. Prevent the handlebar and fork from hitting the frame. In some cases,
the front wheel can turn excessively and cause the handlebar or fork to impact the frame.
Use a good gear shift technique
Choose the gear that offers the best pedalling comfort. Shift gears only when pedalling forward.
Never change gears with the bike stopped or by moving the chain backwards.
When shifting, reduce the force applied on the pedals, to soften the shift and decrease wear on
Loose parts
Finally, before resuming the ride, lift the bicycle a few centimetres and make it bounce on the
ground. If you hear a noise, make sure there are no loose screws left.
After a fall, ride your bike only if it has passed all these checks and return home with extreme
caution. Avoid accelerating and braking abruptly and do not stand up to pedal.
TAKING CARE OF YOUR BICYCLE
Cleaning
For proper operation, the frame and components must be clean. After each ride, clean them with
water and a mild soap. Take the opportunity to check the condition of your bike and detect possi-
ble bumps or cracks.
Never apply high pressure water or steam on the frame bearings and bike components, as wa-
ter may penetrate and corrode them. A steam jet can also cause damage to the frame itself.
Do not use solvents or strong chemical products. Industrial solvents can damage the paint or
even weaken the frame.
Be extremely careful when cleaning e-bikes. Make sure all the electric connectors are dry.
Lubrication
Once the frame and its components have been thoroughly cleaned, apply a small layer of grease
on all the axles of the frame. The bearings and pivots of the links should be inspected monthly. If
you have any questions, please contact us or a trusted bike mechanic.
You should not use conventional grease on the carbon components and the seat tube. In certain
circumstances, if conventional grease is used, these components can not be retightened safely
again.
Oiling excessively attracts dirt. Remove the surplus of grease.
