INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
of Plumbing and Mechanical Ofcials (IAPMO)
standards. Use only non-entrapping suction tting
and double suction.
Electrical
Risk of electric shock. Can shock, burn or
kill. Ground pump before connecting to
power supply. See Grounding/Bonding.
Ground motor before connecting to electrical
power supply. Failure to ground motor can cause
severe or fatal electrical shock hazard.
To avoid dangerous or fatal electrical shock, turn
power OFF to motor before working on electrical
connections.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) tripping
indicates an electrical problem. If GFCI trips and
will not reset, have a qualied electrician inspect
and repair electrical system.
Exactly match supply voltage to motor’s
nameplate voltage. Incorrect voltage can cause
re or seriously damage motor and voids
warranty. If in doubt consult a licensed electrician.
Voltage
Voltage at motor must be no more than 10% above
or below motor nameplate rated voltage or motor
may overheat, causing overload tripping and
reduced component life. If voltage is less than 90%
or more than 110% of rated voltage when motor is
running at full load, consult power company.
Grounding/Bonding
Risk of explosion. May cause risk of
re, separation, severe bodily injury and/or property
damage. Do not ground to a gas supply line. Install,
ground, bond and wire motor according to local and/or
current National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
Using a at bladed screwdriver, unscrew two screws
to remove Motor Canopy (A) and to gain access to
green grounding terminal and voltage settings. See
Figure 4.
Permanently ground motor using green grounding
terminal. See Figure 5. Use size and type wire
required by code. Connect green grounding
terminal to electrical service ground.
Connect a No. 8 AWG (8.4 sq/mm) solid copper
bonding wire (not included) to the bonding lug (C)
provided on the motor housing and to all metal parts of
the swimming pool, spa, or hot tub and to all electrical
