Overview

The TK205 Watch GPS Tracker is a sophisticated device designed for positioning and guarding the elderly, children, businessmen, and field personnel. It combines GPS/GPRS functionality with GSM/SMS/GPRS communication for quick signal reception.

Function Description

The primary function of the TK205 is location tracking. Guardians can obtain location information directly through SMS queries. The device supports dual-entry call functionality, allowing users to make and receive calls. It also features an auto-answer function, which automatically picks up incoming calls after a certain period if not answered manually.

For safety, the TK205 includes a low-power alarm, which notifies the user when the battery is running low. A crucial safety feature is the SOS Emergency Alarm. By pressing a dedicated SOS key for more than 3 seconds, the watch will vibrate and send location information to three pre-stored telephone numbers. Simultaneously, it will attempt to call the first user telephone number. If unsuccessful, it will proceed to call the second and then the third number in turn, making vibration each time.

The device also incorporates a GPS timing function, ensuring accurate timekeeping based on GPS signals.

The TK205 operates in two main modes: SMS application mode and GPRS application mode.

In SMS application mode, users can configure various settings and retrieve information via SMS commands. This includes:

  • Changing the operating mode: Switching to SMS application mode by sending a specific SMS command with the user password.
  • Setting or changing the user password: A 4-digit password can be set or changed to secure the device.
  • Changing stored telephone numbers: Up to three phone numbers (for SOS and direct calls) can be stored and updated via SMS.
  • Single localization request: Users can request the current GPS location of the device by sending an SMS command. The device will reply with detailed location data, including latitude, longitude, speed, direction, date, time, base station information, and location state (A for valid, V for void). If GPS positioning is unavailable (e.g., in cold start conditions), it will return an error message indicating void GPS data.
  • Sending positional information in fixed time: The device can be configured to send location updates at regular intervals (in minutes or hours) to a designated number. This feature can be started or stopped via SMS commands.
  • Telephone localization function: If one of the three pre-stored numbers calls the device and hangs up after 2-5 rings, the TK205 will send its location information back to that number.
  • Answering and ending calls: When an incoming call from a stored number is received, the user can press the SOS button to answer, or the call will auto-answer after 10 seconds. The on/off button can be pressed briefly to end a call. After a call, the device will send location information to the user. Calls from non-stored numbers are automatically hung up.

In GPRS application mode, the device communicates with a TCP/IP server for data transmission. This mode allows for more continuous and detailed tracking. Configuration in GPRS mode also involves SMS commands:

  • Changing the operating mode: Switching to GPRS application mode via an SMS command with the user password.
  • Changing the user name: The device's user name can be updated.
  • Changing the service password: A service password can be set or changed for enhanced security in GPRS operations.
  • Setting up the Access Point Name (APN) of GPRS: Users need to configure the APN provided by their local mobile service provider to enable GPRS connectivity.
  • Setting up the TCP/IP server IP address and port number: The device needs to be configured with the IP address and port of the server it will communicate with for GPRS data upload.
  • Uploading location data at once: An SMS command can trigger an immediate upload of stored location data from the device's memory to the server. The upload format includes IMEI, user name, service password, condition, data quantity, and GPRMC data.
  • Upload data settings: Users can configure the sampling interval (in seconds) and the number of data points to upload each time. The device continuously reads and stores GPS data. Once the memory block reaches the set number of upload data points, it connects to the GPRS server to send the information. This feature can be stopped by setting the number of upload data points to 0.
  • Telephone localization function (GPRS mode): Similar to SMS mode, if one of the three pre-stored numbers calls and hangs up, the device will send its location information (in GPRS format) back to that number.
  • Seeking help initiatively (GPRS mode): Pressing the SOS key for more than 3 seconds will trigger vibration, send location information (in GPRS format) to the three pre-stored numbers, and initiate calls to these numbers in sequence.
  • Answering and ending calls (GPRS mode): Functions identically to SMS mode, allowing users to answer calls from stored numbers via the SOS button or auto-answer, and end calls with the on/off button. Location information is sent after a call.

Usage Features

The TK205 is designed for ease of use with a clear interface and intuitive controls.

  • Display: The watch features a display that shows time, date, GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude), speed, and signal strength for both GSM and GPS. Users can switch between an analogue clock interface and a digital clock display using the mode shift key.
  • Keys and Jacks: The device has five keys and one jack:
    • Upper left key: Power on/off.
    • Lower left key: Mode (interface) shift.
    • Jack: Earphone/charger port.
    • Upper right key: SOS alarm.
    • Central right key: Phone 1 dial.
    • Lower right key: Phone 2 dial.
  • Turning On/Off: The device is turned on or off by holding down the upper left key (Key 1).
  • Interface Shift: The lower left key (Key 2) is used to switch between different display interfaces.
  • Terminal Active Dial-up: Users can initiate calls to pre-stored numbers (Phone 1 and Phone 2) by holding down the central right key (Key 5) or the lower right key (Key 6), respectively. The interface will show "Call 2" or "Call 3" indication, and the watch will dial the corresponding preset number.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the TK205.

  • Storage: The device should be kept away from direct sunlight, dusty environments, strong electromagnetic radiation, and magnetic fields to prevent damage. It should also be protected from dampness and water. The terminal should be placed on a stable surface to avoid damage from drops.
  • Batteries:
    • Initial Use: For the first use or after long idling, the battery should be fully discharged and then charged for 2-3 cycles, each lasting at least 12 hours, to condition the battery.
    • Charging: Only the charger provided by the company should be used. Damages resulting from other chargers are the user's responsibility. Normal charging time is 2-3 hours. The charging icon will flash during charging.
    • Low Battery Alarm: The device will emit a low cell alarm when the battery is nearly depleted during operation or upon turning on. It will automatically power off if not charged in time.
    • Safety: Batteries should not be exposed to fire, dismantled, refitted, or stressed during installation, as this can lead to leakage, overheating, cracking, or explosion. They should not be stored in hot places. Any discoloration or temperature rise during use, charging, or storage indicates a need for replacement. Batteries must be kept dry to prevent overheating, smoking, or corrosion.
  • Charger: Only a 220V alternating current should be used for charging. The charger should not be short-circuited, dismantled, refitted, or used in wet places like bathrooms. In case of liquid splashing into the charger during charging, it should be disconnected immediately. Wet hands should not touch the charging charger.
  • General Maintenance:
    • Disassembly: Users should not dismantle or refit the device themselves, as unauthorized actions may void the warranty and cause damage.
    • Interference: The terminal should not be used near electronic devices with weak signals or high precision, as radio wave interference could cause malfunctions.
    • Magnetic Objects: Avoid placing the terminal too close to magnetic objects (like magnetic cards) as its radiation might erase stored information.
    • SIM Card: The SIM card should not be pulled out randomly. If the SIM card is inserted while the system is on, the system must be restarted for the device to function correctly.
    • Cleaning: The socket should be cleaned regularly to prevent dirt from causing bad contacts and power failure, which can hinder charging. The terminal and charger should be cleaned with a clean, dry rag.
    • Temperature: While the device can operate at the edge of normal temperature, its performance might be affected, but this does not indicate a failure.
    • Vibration and Impact: Avoid abnormal violent vibration or impact.

Network Service

The full functionality of the TK205 relies on mobile network services. Users must apply to mobile service providers for GPRS network service for the mobile phone associated with the SIM card inside the terminal.
