Overview

This document describes the V-ZUG AiroClearWall V6000 and AiroClearIsland V6000 range hoods, designed for extracting cooking odors and fumes from above a cooking area. These appliances can operate in either extraction or recirculation mode, offering flexibility based on kitchen setup and user preference.

Function Description

The primary function of the range hood is to remove cooking fumes and smells. In extraction mode, a fan draws air from above the cooking surface. This air passes through metal grease filters, which clean it, and is then expelled to the outside through a connecting pipe with an integrated non-return valve and an air duct. Adequate fresh air supply is crucial in this mode to replace the extracted air and prevent underpressure in the kitchen.

In recirculation mode, the fan also extracts cooking fumes and smells. The air first passes through metal grease filters and then through activated charcoal filters. Both grease particles and odors are largely removed from the air before it is circulated back into the room. If activated charcoal filters are not supplied with the appliance, they must be ordered and installed before initial use.

The range hood is equipped with an extractor fan, LED lighting, operating and display elements, and metal grease filters. The casing and installation materials are also part of the product.

Usage Features

The range hood offers several user-friendly features for operation and control:

  • Switching On/Off: The appliance can be switched on or off by touching the power button. When switched on, it defaults to power level 1 and activates the illumination. It can also be switched on by touching the fan speed button, in which case the illumination is not activated.
  • Power Levels: Four power levels are available: low (level 1), medium (level 2), high (level 3), and an intensive level. Users can select the desired power level by repeatedly touching the fan speed button. The intensive level runs for 5 minutes, designed for short bursts of powerful extraction, such as when searing meat, before reverting to the previously selected power level or switching off.
  • Illumination: The LED lighting can be switched on or off independently using the light button.
  • Colour Temperature Setting: When the illumination is active, the colour temperature can be adjusted by holding the light button until the desired temperature is reached. The selected setting is automatically saved.
  • After-running Time: This function helps remove lingering smells after cooking. By touching the after-running time button, the appliance continues to run at a set power level for 5–20 minutes (depending on the default setting) before automatically switching off. The display shows the after-running time symbol and the corresponding power level during this period. This function can be ended prematurely by touching the button again.
  • Wipe Protection: For quick cleaning of the operating elements, the wipe protection function temporarily deactivates the keypad/control panel. It is activated by holding the wipe protection button for 5 seconds and automatically turns off after 30 seconds.
  • OptiLink Function: This advanced feature allows the range hood to automatically adjust its power level based on the cooking zones activated on a compatible hob. It eliminates the need for manual control, monitoring the hob's power levels and setting the optimum range hood power. Three operating modes are available: Silent mode (low noise), Standard mode (normal operation), and Intensive mode (high power for strong fumes). Users can select their preferred mode, which influences the reaction time and maximum power level. The range hood's illumination also comes on when the hob is switched on. Manual overriding is possible at any time, with OptiLink resuming control after three minutes of inactivity. An after-running time function is also activated automatically when cooking ends or the hob is switched off while the fan is running.
  • Remote Control (Accessory): The appliance can be operated remotely using an optional remote control, which allows users to decrease or increase power levels, activate the after-running time, and switch the illumination on/off.

Maintenance Features

Regular care and maintenance are essential for the optimal performance and longevity of the range hood:

  • Cleaning the Housing: The exterior and interior of the housing should be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth and a mild detergent, then wiped dry. Abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or steel wool should not be used to avoid damaging the surface. Water should not enter the appliance, and steam cleaners are not recommended.
  • Metal Grease Filters: These filters should be cleaned at least every two months with normal use, or more frequently with intensive use, and whenever the saturation indicator alarm flashes (after 20 operating hours). They can be cleaned in a dishwasher using an "intensive" program or by soaking them in hot water with mild detergent, then rinsing and drying. After cleaning, they must be securely put back into the fixture. Cleaning may cause slight discoloration, but this does not affect their function.
  • Long-life-Plus Activated Charcoal Filter (Recirculation Mode Only): For appliances in recirculation mode, the activated charcoal filter needs cleaning and regeneration every 3 to 6 months with normal use, or when the saturation indicator alarm flashes (after 120, 180, or 240 operating hours, depending on the set cleaning interval). The filter can be regenerated by heating it in an oven at 200 °C (top/bottom heat or hot air) for 60 minutes on a wire shelf, then allowing it to cool down before reinstallation. These filters have a service life of up to three years and can withstand 5–8 regeneration cycles.
  • Resetting Saturation Indicators: After cleaning or replacing the metal grease filters and/or activated charcoal filters, the corresponding saturation indicator alarms must be reset. This is done by switching off the appliance and illumination, then holding the fan speed button depressed for 5 seconds until the symbols disappear from the display.
  • Replacing LED Light Bulbs: For safety reasons, LED light bulbs must be replaced by V-ZUG Customer Services.
