This document provides operating instructions for the Vaillant HOME SYSTEM, a heat generator designed for closed central heating installations and hot water generation. The manual covers essential information for safe and proper use, including product description, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Vaillant HOME SYSTEM functions as a heat generator for both central heating and domestic hot water. It operates in various modes, including "Heating + hot water," "Heating only," "Hot water only," and "No requirement," allowing users to tailor its operation to their specific needs. The system incorporates frost protection functions to prevent damage during cold conditions, automatically activating the boiler and pump when the heating circuit temperature drops to 12 °C and stopping when it reaches 15 °C. For the burner, ignition occurs at 7 °C and anti-cycling at 35 °C. The product is designed for natural gas systems and is CE-certified, indicating compliance with applicable directives.
Important Technical Specifications
The technical specifications are detailed on the identification plate, which is located on the underside of the product. Key specifications include:
- Approved Gas Category: Indicates the type of gas the appliance is approved for.
- Condensing Technology: Specifies the efficiency class of the boiler according to EC Directive 92/42/EEC.
- Type: Xx3(x) – Denotes permissible flue gas connections.

Usage Features
The Vaillant HOME SYSTEM is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear display and intuitive button functions.
- Display: The display shows essential information such as the current heating flow temperature, filling pressure, active operating mode, or fault codes. It includes symbols for heating mode (solid for active, flashing for burner on), display flashing (for product switching or fault), setting confirmation, and fault codes (F.XX / Err). "OFF" appears when the product is in standby mode.
- Operating Modes: Users can select from "Heating + hot water," "Heating only," "Hot water only," or "No requirement" using the "mode" button.
- Temperature Settings: The hot water temperature can be set via the controller, and the heating flow temperature can be adjusted on the boiler. The system also supports an "eco" mode for hot water saving, where the temperature is kept below 50 °C.
- Heating System Pressure Check: The basic display shows the filling pressure, which should be between 0.1 MPa and 0.15 MPa (1.0 bar and 1.5 bar). Users are instructed to check this monthly and to fill the heating installation if the pressure is too low.
- Standby Mode: The product can be switched to standby mode by pressing the power button for less than three seconds. In standby, the display shows "OFF," and the frost protection function remains active.
- Safety Features: The manual emphasizes the importance of proper installation by skilled tradesmen, warning against improper operation, and outlining procedures in case of gas leaks or blocked flue gas pipes. It also highlights risks associated with explosive materials, lack of safety devices, and unauthorized modifications.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Vaillant HOME SYSTEM.
- Annual Inspection: An annual inspection by a competent person is a prerequisite for ensuring the product remains safe, reliable, and has a long working life.
- Cleaning: The casing should be cleaned with a damp cloth and a solvent-free soap. The use of sprays, scouring agents, detergents, solvents, or cleaning agents containing chlorine is prohibited due to the risk of material damage and corrosion.
- Condensate Drain Pipework and Tundish: These components must always be penetrable and should be regularly checked for faults and blockages. Any issues found should be rectified by a competent person.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section with a table of common faults, their causes, and measures to rectify them. For fault codes (F.xx) displayed, users are advised to contact a competent person.
- Guarantee and Customer Service: Vaillant provides a two-year parts and labor guarantee, with the second year contingent on an annual service by an approved competent person. Registration of the product within 30 days of installation is required. Customer service contact details are provided for support and maintenance agreements.
- Disposal: The packaging should be disposed of by the installer. The product itself, if marked with the relevant symbol, should not be disposed of with household waste but taken to a collection center for electrical or electronic appliances. Batteries, if present and marked, should be disposed of at a collection point for batteries.
