Do you have a question about the Vaillant sensoHOME VRT 380/2 and is the answer not in the manual?
This document describes the Vaillant sensoHOME VRT 380/2 system control, which functions as a room temperature controller for heating installations with eBUS interface heat generators from the same manufacturer. It can also be used as a remote control, replacing VR 92 and VR 92/2 models.
The sensoHOME VRT 380/2 controls heating, domestic hot water generation, and circulation based on the installed system. It features a frost protection function that activates when outdoor temperatures fall below 4 °C for more than four hours, switching on the heat generator to maintain a target room temperature of at least 5 °C. Above 4 °C, the system control monitors outdoor temperature without activating the heat generator.
The device allows for the definition of "zones" within a building, each with different heating requirements. For example, a building might have underfloor heating in one zone and a radiator system in another, or individual residential units could each be assigned their own zone.
The system control uses a "time period" concept, allowing users to divide a day into multiple time periods, each with an individual start and end time, and a different desired temperature. Outside these defined time periods, the system regulates to a lower set-back temperature.
A key feature is the "heat curve" setting, which determines the dependence of the flow temperature on the outdoor temperature for a desired room temperature. The manual provides examples of how different heat curves affect the flow temperature at various outdoor temperatures. The heat curve can be translated based on the target room temperature, with an axis angled at 45° to adjust the flow temperature accordingly.
The system also includes an adaptive heat curve function for automatic fine adjustment, provided that a suitable heat curve is set, the correct zone is assigned, and "Expanded" is selected in the "Room temp. mod." function. Control can be either room temperature-compensated ("R.temp.contr") or weather-compensated ("Weath.-comp.") if an outdoor temperature sensor is connected.
The "OT constant heating" function ensures a room temperature of 20 °C outside of time periods if the outdoor temperature falls below a set value, preventing night set-back or total shut-down. A "Desired preheating temp." function allows for pre-heating before the heating program starts, aiming to reach the desired room temperature at the scheduled time.
For domestic hot water, the system control offers manual or time-controlled modes, with weekly planners for both domestic hot water and circulation. A "Hot water boost" function allows for a one-time heating of the cylinder, and a "Ventilation boost" temporarily switches off heating for 30 minutes. The "Time programme assistant" simplifies programming desired temperatures for different days of the week.
The system also provides "Energy data" displays for power and fuel consumption for heating, domestic hot water, and the overall installation. These values are estimations influenced by installation design, user behavior, environmental conditions, and component tolerances, and are not suitable for energy billing.
The sensoHOME VRT 380/2 features a clear display and intuitive control elements. Active control elements light up green.
The menu structure includes "CONTROL" for managing zones, heating modes (manual, time-controlled, off), domestic hot water (manual, time-controlled, off), hot water boost, ventilation boost, and time program assistant. The "INFORMATION" menu provides current temperatures, water pressure, and energy consumption data. The "SETTINGS" menu allows access to installer level, contact info, service date, fault history, installation configuration, screed drying profile, code changes, language, time, display brightness, offset, and factory settings.
The system control displays fault and maintenance messages. Fault messages, including specific fault codes, can be found under "MENU → SETTINGS → Installer level → Fault history." Maintenance messages indicate when maintenance is required for connected components, such as the heat generator or when water pressure is too low. The manual provides troubleshooting steps for common issues, such as a dark display, inability to make changes, active button lock, boiler faults, and incorrect language settings. It also outlines maintenance work and intervals for various components. For example, if water pressure is too low, the user is directed to the heat generator's operating instructions for information on filling with water. If the heat generator requires maintenance, the user is advised to consult the relevant instructions.
