Overview

This document is a user manual for Van Raam tricycles, specifically the Easy Rider, Easy Rider Compact, and Easy Rider Small models. It provides essential information for safe operation, maintenance, and adjustment of these bicycles.

Function Description:

Van Raam tricycles are designed for children and adults with disabilities or limited mobility who may not be able to ride conventional two-wheeled bicycles. They are suitable for individuals with neuromuscular diseases (e.g., congenital brain injury, non-congenital brain injury, muscular dystrophy), coordination problems, balance disorders, and limited natural movement. The tricycles are intended for normal use on flat, solid surfaces and are designed for single-person use. Users must be independently mobile and not have severe visual or other restrictions that would prevent responsible participation in traffic.

Usage Features:

  • Seating Position Adjustment: The seat can be adjusted by loosening a quick-release lever and sliding the seat to the desired position. For Easy Rider Compact, two quick-release levers are used, and the tension of the bolts needs to be checked. Seat depth can also be adjusted by loosening socket-head screws and sliding the seat frame.
  • Backrest Adjustment: The backrest can be adjusted by loosening a hexagon bolt, setting the desired position, and retightening. For Easy Rider Small, backrest firmness can be adjusted using Velcro straps.
  • Handlebar Adjustment: Handlebars can be tilted and adjusted for height. For tilting, a button on the stem is pressed to release a lever, allowing adjustment. For height, a bolt is loosened, the handlebar stem is slid to the desired height, and then retightened. It's crucial not to pull the handlebar stem out further than the "MIN INSERT" mark to prevent serious injury.
  • Parking Brake: Always use the parking brake when parking the bicycle. It is not recommended to park on slopes steeper than 10%.
  • Lighting:
    • Manually Operated Headlight: Features a push button with three positions (ON, ON 50%, OFF). It uses 2x AA alkaline batteries, which can be replaced by pressing down on the lip of the housing and pulling the front off.
    • Manually Operated Rear Light (Easy Rider, Easy Rider Small): Has an on/off button with Off-Auto-On settings. In "Auto" mode, it uses light and motion sensors. It uses 1.5 V – 1500 mA alkaline batteries.
    • Manually Operated Rear Light (Easy Rider Compact): Has an ON/OFF button underneath. It uses CR2032 lithium batteries.
    • Centrally Operated Lighting (with Electro system Silent): Switches on automatically when the electrical system is activated. Can be manually switched on/off via the display button.

  • Electro System Silent: Comprises a display, button unit, battery, motor, and bottom bracket.
    • Display (Easy Rider Compact): Shows cycling information (speed, battery charge, assistance mode, range, trip distance, total distance). It has an on/off button and a button for bicycle lights.
    • Button Unit (Easy Rider Compact): Mounted next to the handlebar grip. Used to switch screen modes, increase/decrease pedal support, and activate start assist.
    • Smart Display (Easy Rider, Easy Rider Small): Shows battery status with five green LEDs (turning red when low).
