Cleaning Guidance
Vernacare recommends that the outside of the machine, the underside of the lid and the
top cover are cleaned daily.
Opening and closing the lid to clean the top cover and underside of the lid will cause a
cycle to run if the machine has auto-start enabled; this can be considered part of the
normal cleaning process.
There is no need to manually clean inside the hopper.
Cleaning products should be chosen according to local guidance and protocols.
Do not use abrasive materials or organic solvents.
If the machine is not used for a period of 7 days we recommend running a cycle with the
machine empty.
Note
If disinfection is required refer to the local infection control policy. ICNA guidelines (2000)
recommend the use of powder-free vinyl examination gloves for general cleaning tasks.
A plastic apron should be used to prevent soiling of uniform.
RULES
ONLY load a maximum of one (1) Vernacare single use disposable product per cycle.
ONLY use Vernacare deodoriser.
DON’T put non-maceratable wipes, dressings, plastic containers, incontinence pads,
metal objects, cotton wool, sanitary or paper towels, plastic gloves, aprons, syringes or
any other non-maceratable items into the Compact disposal unit.
Isolate power to the machine if required when cleaning the floor under the sensor.
