• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s

phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.

• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire

department.

qualified installer, service agency or the gas supplier.

Function Description

The Revolution Water Heater is a tankless gas-fired water heater designed to provide on-demand hot water. It features a digital display and various icons to monitor its operational status, including water temperature, flow rate, and combustion load. The device is equipped with safety features and is designed for both household and commercial use, with different temperature ranges available for each. It is certified to NSF/ANSI 5 & 372, Low NOx (SCAQMD Rule 1146.2 compliant), ENERGY STAR certified, and AHRI certified, indicating its efficiency and compliance with industry standards. The product is also lead-free, meaning the wetted surfaces contain less than 0.25% lead by weight.

Recirculation (VRP models only): Requires recirculation piping and proper Dip Switch setting.

Usage Features

Front Panel Controls:
- Power Button: Turns the water heater on or off.
- Mode Button: Changes the display mode to view different operational information (e.g., IN temperature, OUT temperature, LPM/GPM, % combustion load).
- Up/Down Buttons: Adjust the water temperature setting.
Digital Display: Shows current water temperature, error codes, and other operational data.
Icons:
- Pump: Indicates recirculation pump operation (VRP models).
- Cascade: Indicates cascade operation.
- LPM/GPM: Displays flow rate of hot water supply in Liters Per Minute or Gallons Per Minute.
- Error: Indicates an error condition.
- Combustion: Indicates gas burner operation.
- %: Indicates combustion load in percentage.
- OUT: Indicates hot water supply temperature.
- IN: Indicates cold water inlet temperature.
Temperature Setting: Users can adjust the desired hot water temperature. Caution is advised for temperatures above 125°F (51°C) due to scalding risk, especially for children, the disabled, and the elderly. A 5-second hold of the "down" button is required to unlock temperature changes between 120°F (50°C) and 125°F (52°C).
Mode Switching: The device can switch between household and commercial modes by pressing the power button to turn off the unit, then simultaneously pressing the MODE and "down" buttons for 5 seconds. "LAHI" indicates commercial mode, and "LALO" indicates household mode.
Remote Controller (VD-100, optional): Allows remote control of power, temperature setting, mode selection, and recirculation (for VRP models).
Freeze Protection: The water heater has a built-in freeze protection function that warms the unit when the internal temperature drops below 43°F (6°C), provided the power supply is connected.

Maintenance Features

Draining the Water Heater: Necessary for maintenance or to prevent freezing during extended periods of non-use. Involves turning off power and gas, closing water supply valves, opening hot water faucets, and draining water from the inlet nipple filter or drain plug.
Cleaning the Inlet Nipple Filter: The filter should be removed, rinsed with clean water, and reinserted after draining the water heater.
Cleaning the Recirculation Filter (VRP models only): Involves removing the front cover, loosening screws to remove the filter, rinsing it with clean water, and reassembling.
Cleaning the Air Intake Filter: Recommended every 2-3 months. Involves turning off power, removing the front cover, locating and removing the filter, rinsing it with clean water, drying it completely, and reinserting. A clogged filter can cause operational issues or errors.
Flushing the Heat Exchanger: Required annually, or more often in hard water conditions. This is a more complex procedure involving disconnecting power, closing shutoff valves, connecting hoses to a circulation pump, circulating a cleaning solution (e.g., 4 gallons of virgin, food-grade white vinegar) for at least 45 minutes, then rinsing with fresh water.
Maintenance Schedules:
- Daily: Check for combustible/flammable materials and air contaminants, visually inspect the exterior.
- Monthly: Inspect condensate trap and PVC fittings, check piping for leaks (water and gas), inspect vent piping for leakage and blockage.
- Every 6 Months: Inspect piping for leaks, inspect vent piping for leakage and blockage, test pressure relief valve operation (with caution to avoid hot water contact and water damage).
- Periodically (Service Technician): Inspect interior, clean condensate trap and fill with fresh water, clean air intake filter, check for leaks (gas, water, flue, condensate), check system pressure (gas, water), check ignition and flame rod, check wiring connections.
