Overview

The provided manual describes the Volta T7 U7440 Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, a household appliance designed for dry vacuuming. It is part of the Electrolux Group's range of floor care and small appliances.

Function Description

The Volta T7 U7440 is a bagless vacuum cleaner primarily used for cleaning carpets and hard floors. Its core function is to generate suction to pick up dust, dirt, and debris from various surfaces. The bagless design means it collects dirt in a reusable dust container, eliminating the need for disposable dust bags. It features variable suction control, allowing users to adjust the power based on the cleaning task and surface type. The appliance is equipped with a hose assembly, telescopic tube, and various nozzles to cater to different cleaning needs, including general floor cleaning, confined areas, and upholstery.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Model: T7 U7440
  • Power: 1800 Watt
  • Type: Bagless vacuum cleaner
  • Insulation: Double insulated (electrically insulated from the mains, making earthing unnecessary)
  • Filter System: Features a cartridge filter and an exhaust filter. The cartridge filter is washable and reusable, while the exhaust filter is replaceable (reference: Menalux D09).
  • Dust Collection: Dust container (bagless)
  • Cord: Mains cable with cord rewind function.
  • Safety Features: Thermal overload protection, which switches off the cleaner if airflow is restricted due to blockages or dirty filters.

Usage Features

The Volta T7 U7440 is designed for user-friendly operation with several convenient features:

  • On/Off Button: Simple push-button operation to activate/deactivate the cleaner.
  • Variable Suction Control: A dial or slider allows users to adjust the suction power, making it suitable for different surfaces and cleaning tasks, from heavy-duty carpet cleaning to delicate curtains.
  • Hose Handle with Slide Valve: Provides additional suction regulation directly at the handle by opening or closing an aperture.
  • Telescopic Tube: Adjustable length for comfortable use and reaching various areas.
  • Cord Rewind Button: Automatically retracts the mains cable for easy storage. Users are advised to hold the plug during rewind to prevent it from striking them or the machine.
  • Filter Indicator Light: An electronic indicator that illuminates when the dust container needs emptying or the filter needs cleaning. It flickers during normal operation.
  • Accessory Nozzles:
    • Combination Carpet/Hard Floor Nozzle: Versatile nozzle with a lever to switch between carpet (horizontal position) and hard floor (vertical position) modes.
    • Hard Floor Nozzle: Specifically designed for hard floors and parquetry to prevent scratching.
    • Turbo Nozzle (Optional Purchase Item): Recommended for carpets, especially short pile carpets, as its rotary brush gently loosens embedded dirt, fluff, and pet hairs.
    • Upholstery Nozzle: Ideal for cleaning curtains, cushions, and other fabric surfaces.
    • Crevice Nozzle: For cleaning confined areas, corners, and radiators.
    • Dusting Brush: For removing dust from furniture and slatted blinds.
  • Carrying Handle: For easy portability of the cleaner.
  • Assembly: The hose connects to the suction inlet with a click, and the telescopic tube attaches to the hose handle and floor nozzle by pushing and twisting.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Volta T7 U7440. The manual outlines clear steps for cleaning and replacing filters:

  • Dust Container Emptying:
    1. Remove the dust container from the cleaner by pushing the opening button on both sides.
    2. Push the orange-coloured opening button to release the contents.
    3. Close the lid until it clicks and reinsert the container into the cleaner.
    4. The filter indicator light signals when the dust container is full or the filter needs cleaning.
  • Cartridge Filter Cleaning:
    1. Remove the dust container.
    2. Rotate the dust container cover counter-clockwise and pull it out.
    3. Remove the cartridge filter by turning it counter-clockwise from the cover, then clockwise from the filter plate.
    4. Rinse the cartridge filter under tap water.
    5. Air dry for approximately 24 hours until completely dry. Avoid direct sunlight or extreme drying methods (e.g., hair dryer). An extra cartridge filter is provided for use while one is drying.
    6. Reassemble the filter into the filter plate, then into the dust container cover, and finally reinsert the cover into the dust container.
    7. Filters should be replaced at least twice a year or when visibly soiled.
  • Exhaust Filter Cleaning/Replacement:
    1. Open the filter grill.
    2. Remove the exhaust filter.
    3. Insert a new exhaust filter (reference: Menalux D09).
    4. Close the filter grill.
  • Blockage Clearing:
    • If the cleaner stops due to thermal overload (caused by blockages or dirty filters), switch it off, unplug it, and allow it to cool for 20-30 minutes.
    • Check the hose, tubes, and nozzle for blockages. A small coin or flexible tube can be used to dislodge obstructions in the hose. Clearing blockages in the hose is not covered by warranty.
  • General Advice:
    • Never operate the cleaner without the dust container and filters installed to avoid motor damage and reduced suction.
    • Avoid vacuuming flammable liquids, burning materials, sharp building materials, plaster dust, or carpet cleaning foams, as these can damage the cleaner and void the warranty.
    • Store the cleaner indoors in a cool, dry area.
    • Do not spray air fresheners or highly inflammable gas propellants directly into the vacuum cleaner.
  • Service & Repair:
    • Repairs should only be undertaken by authorized Volta service providers using genuine Volta spare parts. Unauthorized alterations or repairs can cause injury, malfunction, and void the warranty.
    • Water entering the vacuum cleaner requires motor replacement by an authorized service agent, which is not covered by warranty.
