2. Check if the saw chain runs smoothly by turning it manually.
3. Turn the tensioning screw clockwise until on the underside of the guide bar.
4. Tighten and lock the quick locking device.
During the run-in time, re-tension the saw chain and guide bar after a maximum of 5 cuts.
5. Attach the chain wheel guard.

Adjusting Chain Tension
Letting the Saw Chain Run in
The saw chain is tensioned correctly if it lies close against the underside of the guide bar and can be moved
easily by hand. Readjust the tension of the saw chain when necessary (see Re-tensioning the Saw Chain
section). Make sure there are no gaps between the saw chain and guide groove.
Checking the Tensioning of the Saw Chain
The device should not be used without sufficient chain lubrication. Insufficient lubrication reduces the service
life of this device
1. Check the oil quantity in the tank.
2. Start the device.
3. Hold the running saw chain approx. 5.9 in (15 cm) above a suitable surface for a short time (15 s). If there is
sufficient chain lubrication, the oil spraying off of the saw chain will form a slight trail.
