BASIC WORK TECHNIQUE 20
Propped-up Trunks
Removing Branches
It is recommended that you place trunks to be sawed through on sawhorses. Ifthis not possible, the trunk
should be lifted with the help of supporting branches and placed over trestles.
In area A, first cut through approximately one third of the trunk diameter from above downwards, then make
the final cut from below upwards. In area B, first cut through approximately one third of the trunk diameter from
below upwards, then saw through from above.
● Always work on the side opposite the branch in question.
● Begin at the bottom of the trunk and work upwards.
● Always guide the saw from above downwards through the wood.
● When cutting thicker branches, make the first cut from below. Then, cut through from above, and then finish by
cutting off the remaining stump.
When removing the branches from trunks that are lying down, first saw off the free branches stickinq up in the
air. Only saw off supporting branches when the trunk is sawed in lengths.
DANGER! Risk of injury!Do not saw any trunks under tension.Splintering wood or a twisted guide bar can
cause extremely severe injuries.
DANGERI Riskof injury!Branches that are high up or under tension can wedge the saw chain in the wood.
WARNING! Riskof injury Always standon the higher side of the trunkto avoid thelog in case it rolls away.
