Overview

The VonShef 1000W Ultra Blender (model 13/283 US) is a powerful kitchen appliance designed for blending various ingredients to create smoothies, shakes, and other blended foods. It is intended for indoor use only and should be operated within the parameters specified in the manual.

Function Description:

The Ultra Blender is primarily used for blending ingredients. It features a motor unit, a blade unit with blending blades, and two blending jars of different capacities (16 fl oz and 27 fl oz). The device is equipped with an interlocking safety switch, ensuring that all components are correctly assembled and fitted to the motor unit before operation can begin. It supports both continuous blending (up to 1 minute at a time to prevent overheating) and pulse-like blending, where the blending jar is firmly pushed down onto the motor unit instead of being locked into place. The blender comes with two types of lids: a spill-proof lid and a sip & seal lid, allowing for convenient storage and on-the-go consumption of blended contents.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power: 1000W
  • Voltage: 110-120V
  • Frequency: 60Hz
  • Blending Jar Capacities: 16 fl oz and 27 fl oz

Usage Features:

  1. Assembly:
    • Position the MOTOR UNIT on a stable, level, heat-resistant work surface, ensuring the suction feet stick to the surface.
    • Add ingredients to the chosen BLENDING JAR, taking care not to exceed the maximum capacity marker.
    • Avoid adding hot liquids to the blending jars.
    • When blending with ice, add a small amount of liquid to the blending jar to prevent damage to the blending blades. Ensure enough ice is added to cover the blades but do not pack with large ice cubes.
    • Screw the BLADE UNIT securely onto the open end of the BLENDING JAR.
  2. Operation:
    • Ensure the MOTOR UNIT is disconnected from the mains before attaching the BLENDING JAR/BLADE UNIT.
    • Invert the assembled BLENDING JAR/BLADE UNIT and align its tabs with the small openings on the MOTOR UNIT.
    • Turn the assembled BLENDING JAR/BLADE UNIT clockwise to lock it into place.
    • Connect the appliance to a suitable mains socket.
    • For continuous blending, operate for no longer than 1 minute at a time to prevent overheating. Allow the appliance to rest if more blending is required.
    • For pulse-like blending, firmly push and hold down the BLENDING JAR when placed onto the MOTOR UNIT, rather than twisting to lock.
    • Once the desired consistency is achieved, unlock the BLENDING JAR/BLADE UNIT by twisting anticlockwise to release.
    • Disconnect the MOTOR UNIT from the mains and allow it to cool.
    • Invert the BLENDING JAR and unscrew the BLADE UNIT.
    • Replace the BLADE UNIT with either the SPILL-PROOF LID or SIP & SEAL LID, ensuring it is tightly screwed on.
    • The BLENDING JAR with contents can be placed in the refrigerator for later consumption.
  3. Safety Precautions:
    • Always locate the appliance on a firm, flat, heat-resistant surface away from the edge of the worktop.
    • Do not operate the blender by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
    • Accessories are not intended for use in microwaves or freezers.
    • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.
    • Keep hands and utensils out of the blending jar when in use.
    • Never expose the blending jar to extreme temperature changes.
    • Do not lift or move the blender while in use.
    • Never use the appliance without a blending jar fitted or with a broken/cracked blending jar.
    • Do not blend hot liquids; allow them to cool first.
    • If the blender overheats, a thermal switch will activate and shut down the appliance. Unplug and allow it to cool for 30 minutes before using again.
    • Do not insert any objects into openings or cover the appliance.
    • Use only as described in the manual and with DOMU Brands recommended attachments.
    • Ensure the electricity supply matches the rating plate.
    • Do not use with a damaged cable or plug. If the supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified engineer.
    • The use of an extension cable is not recommended.
    • Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.
    • Keep the cable away from heated surfaces and prevent it from hanging over edges where it could be pulled.
    • Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before performing maintenance or changing accessories.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Cleaning:
    • Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow it to cool.
    • Wipe the MOTOR UNIT with a damp cloth. A multi-purpose spray cleaner may be used.
    • Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions, or metal scourer pads on the MOTOR UNIT.
    • WARNING: Do not immerse the MOTOR UNIT, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
    • Wash the BLADE UNIT by hand using warm soapy water and a sponge. It may require soaking in warm water to remove clogged ingredients.
    • CAUTION: Take extra care when cleaning the BLADE UNIT as the blades are very sharp. A small cleaning brush is recommended to avoid direct contact.
    • To clean the BLENDING JARS, add a small amount of washing-up liquid and warm water to the jar, attach the BLADE UNIT, fit it onto the MOTOR UNIT, and run the appliance for a few seconds. Then, remove and rinse thoroughly under running water.
    • Wash the SPILL-PROOF LIDS in warm water with mild detergent and soak to remove odors.
    • Dry all removable components thoroughly before reassembling.
  2. Storage:
    • Store the appliance in a dry place, out of reach of children.
    • Always store the BLENDING JARS without the SPILL-PROOF LIDS or BLADE UNIT attached.
    • Do not use the BLENDING JARS to store food or blended ingredients, and do not freeze or microwave them.
  3. Troubleshooting:
    • Blender not starting: Check mains connection and ensure all parts are correctly fitted according to the 'Assembly' section.
    • Blending stops during operation: Ensure maximum capacity is not exceeded, dice hard fruits/vegetables, allow warm ingredients to cool, and avoid packing the jar with too much ice. Add a small amount of water or other liquids to aid blending.
    • Desired consistency not achieved: Blend longer, ensure ingredients are suitable for the blender (avoid cheese and chocolate), try pulse blending, and add a small amount of liquid if needed.

The manual also includes several recipes for smoothies, such as Strawberry & Banana, Forest Fruits, Breakfast, Banana & Peanut Butter, Orange & Cranberry, and Green Apple & Kale, with a general recommendation to add a small amount of liquid (fruit juice or water) to any recipe.
