Overview

The device is a Vornado Whole Room Circulator, model 533 XT, designed to circulate air in indoor living spaces. It comes with a 5-year satisfaction guarantee, indicating a commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction.

Function Description:

The Vornado 533 XT is an air circulator that utilizes Vornado's signature whole room circulation technology to move air efficiently throughout a room. This helps to maximize the performance of heating and cooling systems, allowing users to set their thermostats at less extreme temperatures in both summer and winter. The device is intended for indoor use only in the United States and is not suitable for commercial or industrial applications. It features multiple speed settings (Off, Low (I), Medium (II), High (III)) to accommodate various comfort levels.

Important Technical Specifications:

The device operates with a polarized plug, meaning one blade is wider than the other, designed to fit into a polarized outlet in only one way to reduce the risk of electric shock. It incorporates an overload protection system with a 2.5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse. If the fuse blows, it indicates an overload or short-circuit situation, and the fuse must be replaced with an approved Vornado Consumer Service replacement fuse. The power cord and plug should not come into contact with water, and the device should not be used on wet surfaces or in locations where it could fall into water.

Usage Features:

  • Multiple Speeds: The circulator offers four speed settings (Off, Low, Medium, High) controlled by a rotary switch, allowing users to adjust airflow intensity according to their preference.
  • Whole Room Circulation: Designed to effectively circulate air throughout an entire room, helping to balance temperatures and improve comfort.
  • Energy Saving: By optimizing air circulation, the device can help reduce the need for extreme thermostat settings, potentially leading to energy savings.
  • Finger Friendly Design: The grille is designed to resist curious fingers, enhancing safety, especially in households with children.
  • Non-Marking Silicone Feet: The base of the circulator is equipped with silicone feet to provide stability and prevent marks or scratches on surfaces.
  • Easy Accessibility: The appliance should be placed near an easily accessible outlet for quick unplugging in emergencies.

Maintenance Features:

  • Removable Grille: The front grille can be removed for easy cleaning. This involves removing three screws located at the 10, 2, and 6 o'clock positions on the inlet grille and then releasing the front grille clips. The grille can be dusted or washed with mild dishwashing soap, but should not be placed in a dishwasher due to potential plastic distortion from excessive heat.
  • Blade Removal for Cleaning: The blade can also be removed for thorough cleaning. First, the nut on the shaft must be turned clockwise to loosen and remove it. The blade can then be pulled straight out from the shaft. The blade can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, but solvents should not be used, and it should not be placed in a dishwasher. When reattaching the blade, ensure the flat side of the shaft aligns with the corresponding flat side on the blade's socket, and push the blade all the way in until it bottoms out. A hammer should not be used to avoid bearing damage.
  • Fuse Replacement: In case of a blown fuse, the user can replace it by following specific instructions. This involves turning off the appliance, unplugging it, sliding open the fuse cover on the plug with a small flat-head screwdriver, gently lifting out the old fuse, installing a new 2.5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse, and then sliding the fuse cover closed.
  • Regular Cleaning: It is recommended to clean the product regularly as instructed in the manual, ensuring it is unplugged and powered off before cleaning. Gasoline, thinners, solvents, ammonias, or other chemicals should not be used for cleaning.
  • Professional Service: For any service or repairs beyond user-servicing instructions, especially if the power cord is damaged or if a short-circuit persists after fuse replacement, the product should be returned to a Vornado Authorized Service Center. The appliance housing should not be opened while the product is plugged in to avoid electric shock.
