Overview

The Vornado OSCR37 is a tower circulator designed to provide whole-room air circulation in indoor living spaces within the United States and Canada. It is not intended for commercial or industrial use. This product emphasizes user-friendly design, energy efficiency, and convenient control, aiming to deliver a perfect user experience. If the product does not meet expectations, Vornado offers support to make it right.

Function Description

The primary function of the OSCR37 tower circulator is to move a substantial amount of air to circulate it throughout a room. Unlike traditional fans that simply blow air, a circulator is engineered to create a more even distribution of air, eliminating hot and cold spots. This model features multiple speed settings, allowing users to select the desired airflow intensity for various comfort levels. It also includes an oscillation function, which can be turned on or off, to sweep air across a wider area. An energy-saving timer allows users to set the circulator to operate for specific durations (3, 6, 9, or 12 hours), promoting energy efficiency and convenience. The device is equipped with a photodetector sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the control display based on the ambient light in the room, enhancing user comfort, especially in low-light conditions.

Usage Features

The OSCR37 is designed for ease of use with several features that enhance its functionality and user experience:

  • Touch-Sensitive Controls with Auto-Dimming Digital Display: The controls are integrated into the top of the tower, providing a sleek and modern interface. The auto-dimming feature ensures the display is not overly bright in dark rooms, adapting to the environment.
  • Multiple Speeds: The circulator offers 4 speed settings, indicated by illuminated lights on the control panel, allowing for precise control over airflow to match personal comfort preferences.
  • Energy-Saving Timer: Users can set the timer for 3, 6, 9, or 12 hours. When the timer is active, the timer indicator light glows orange. To adjust the timer, users press the timer button, and the indicator lights flash orange, allowing selection of the desired duration. The timer can be canceled by cycling through settings until off or by pressing and holding the timer button for 4 seconds.
  • Oscillation Function: The oscillation feature can be easily activated or deactivated with a dedicated button, providing flexibility in how air is distributed across the room.
  • Remote Control: For added convenience, the OSCR37 comes with a remote control that mirrors the functions of the on-device controls. This allows users to adjust power, speed, timer, and oscillation from a distance. The remote requires a line-of-sight path to the receiver lens located at the top of the tower for optimal operation.
  • Sturdy Base and Silicon Feet: The circulator is built with a sturdy base to ensure wobble-free airflow and stability. Non-marking silicon feet are added to further enhance stability and protect floor surfaces.
  • Carry Handle: A built-in carry handle makes it easy to transport the tower circulator from one room to another.
  • Finger-Friendly Design: The design of the circulator is intended to resist curious fingers, making it safer for households with children.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of the OSCR37, especially given the substantial amount of air it moves.

  • Regular Cleaning: The manufacturer recommends unplugging the tower before any cleaning. A brush attachment on a household vacuum cleaner can be used to remove accumulated dust from the tower. The entire tower can then be wiped down with a soft cloth.
  • Cleaning Restrictions: It is crucial not to use gasoline, thinners, solvents, ammonias, or other harsh chemicals for cleaning, as these can damage the product.
  • Lubrication: The motor of the OSCR37 is permanently lubricated and does not require any oiling, simplifying maintenance.
  • Fuse Replacement: The product includes an overload protection fuse. If the fuse blows, it indicates an overload or short-circuit situation. Users can replace the fuse by following specific instructions provided in the manual, which involve using a small flat-head screwdriver to open the fuse cover on the plug. Only a 2.5 Amp, 125 Volt fuse approved by Vornado Consumer Service should be used for replacement. If the replacement fuse blows, the product should be discarded or returned to an authorized service facility.
  • Battery Replacement (Remote Control): The remote control uses one coin-style 3V CR2032 battery. Instructions are provided for replacing the battery, including opening the battery door with a #1 Phillips screwdriver, cleaning contacts, and ensuring correct polarity. Users are advised to remove the battery from the remote control when not in use for extended periods and to immediately replace dead batteries with fresh ones.

Safety Information

The manual emphasizes several safety warnings, including precautions regarding children and impaired persons, chemical burn hazards from batteries, and general electrical safety. It advises against using the product with a damaged cord or plug, operating it near water or high-temperature heat sources, or running the cord under carpeting. The product has a polarized plug for safety, which should not be defeated. All servicing and repairs, other than user-servicing instructions for fuse replacement, must be performed by a Vornado Authorized Service Center.
