Do you have a question about the Vortice LINEO 125 ES and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The VORTICE LINEO ES series (models 100, 100 Q, 125, 150, 160) are in-line centrifugal extractor fans designed for air expulsion through ventilation ducts in residential and commercial properties. These appliances are constructed with a thermoplastic outer shell and other parts made of thermoplastic resin, ensuring durability and protection against water splashes.

Function Description

The core function of the LINEO ES series is to efficiently move air through a ventilation system. They are equipped with an electronically controlled two-speed brushless motor, allowing for adjustable minimum and maximum speed settings. This flexibility enables users to optimize airflow for various applications and energy efficiency.

The fans offer two primary operating modes:

  • Two-speed mode: The appliance operates continuously, and users can select between two preset speeds (V1 and V2) via an external switch.
  • Adjustable speed mode: The appliance can operate at a continuously variable speed, adjustable between a minimum (Vmin) and maximum (Vmax) setting using an external potentiometer. Optional VORTICE ON/OFF control boxes with potentiometers (codes 12826 / 12828) are available for this purpose.

All models operate on 220-240V, 50-60Hz power supply. The maximum operating environment temperature for all models is 60°C. All versions of 100-125-150-160 ES appliances are fitted with a safety overtemperature device (thermofuse).

Usage Features

Installation:

  • Installation must be carried out by a professionally qualified electrician.
  • The electrical system must comply with applicable regulations.
  • An omnipolar switch with a contact opening distance of 3 mm or higher is required for complete disconnection under overvoltage category III conditions.
  • Products with single-phase wiring (M) motors require connection to 220-240V (or 230V where specified) single-phase lines. Any modification to the product will void the warranty.
  • Control accessories should be installed in a room with an ambient temperature not exceeding 25°C.
  • Precautions must be taken to prevent gas reflux from flues or other fuel combustion units into the room.
  • The appliance's inlet and outlet ports must always be connected to a suitable duct.
  • Ensure adequate air replacement in the room for effective operation, especially if other non-sealed combustion appliances are present.
  • The appliance must discharge into a single duct dedicated to this product.
  • Do not cover or obstruct the inlet and outlet grilles to ensure optimal airflow.

Initial Configuration: The installer must configure the appliance's operation. This involves:

  1. Selecting the product model: This is done by setting DIP switch SW1 according to the model table. This step is factory-set but can be reset if needed.
  2. Selecting the operating mode: This involves setting DIP switch SW2.
    • For two-speed mode (V1 and V2 selectable via external switch): Set Int.2=ON; Int.3=OFF; Int.4=OFF.
    • For adjustable speed mode (via external potentiometer): Set Int.2=OFF; Int.3=OFF; Int.4=OFF.
  3. Setting V1 and V2 values (for two-speed mode):
    • Isolate power.
    • Set SW2 to: Int.1=OFF, Int.2=OFF, Int.3=OFF, Int.4=ON.
    • When power is supplied, the motor runs at the factory default trickle speed (V1).
    • Adjust V1 using a flat-head screwdriver on the potentiometer, ensuring it's at least 100 rpm lower than the desired V2.
    • Save V1 by switching Int.1 to ON.
    • Adjust V2 using the potentiometer.
    • Set V2 by switching Int.1 to OFF.
    • Isolate power.
    • To complete commissioning and prevent tampering, set Int.1, Int.2, Int.3, and Int.4 to OFF.

Restoring Nominal Values: If necessary, factory-set V1 and V2 values can be restored:

  1. Cut off power.
  2. Set DIP switch SW2 to Int.3=ON.
  3. Restore power: V1 and V2 will automatically revert to factory defaults for the selected model. Two quick flashes of an on-board LED will indicate restoration, and the motor will deactivate.
  4. Cut off power.
  5. Reset DIP switch SW2 to Int.3=OFF.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Internal cleaning should only be performed by qualified personnel.
  • Do not immerse the appliance or its parts in water or other liquids.
  • Regularly inspect the appliance for visible defects. If any are found, do not operate and contact VORTICE.
  • In case of malfunction or fault, contact VORTICE and request original VORTICE spare parts for repairs.
  • If the appliance is dropped or suffers a heavy blow, have it checked immediately by VORTICE.
  • Switch off the main switch of the installation when: a) a malfunction is detected; b) before external cleaning; c) the appliance will not be used for short or long periods.
  • Refer to figures 24-26 in the manual for detailed cleaning instructions.

Disposal: This product complies with Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol indicates that the product should not be discarded with household waste but must be taken to a separate collection point for electrical and electronic equipment at the end of its life. This ensures proper treatment, disposal, and recycling of materials, preventing negative environmental and health impacts. Contact local authorities for collection facilities or return to the distributor when purchasing an equivalent appliance.
