Installation and Operating Manual
D+ Simulator No. 3066
The VOTRONIC D+ Simulator is applied for detection of the charging data in a 12 V board mains.
Whenever it is required that additional consumers shall only be switched-on, if the dynamo supplies current and the motor
is running, or if simultaneous supply of the board battery is required by interconnection of board and starter battery over a
cutoff relay, the D+ contact of the dynamo will be used for determination of the charging mode of a dynamo.
If the D+ contact is not accessible, or even not existing, as it is the case for later dynamos, the VOTRONIC D+ Simulator
produces this signal by supervision of the starter battery, which is connected to the dynamo.
Note: This device is not suitable for use with Euro-6 vehicles. The generator management system in
Euro-6 vehicles does not allow the start battery voltage to be connected to a running or
stopped motor.
Please read this operating and installation manual thoroughly prior to connection and start-up.
The VOTRONIC D-Simulator works automatically and maintenance-free and offers the following functions:
Low own consumption
Display at D+ “ON” by LED
Terminal (output): Possibility to connect a power relay with holding current of max. 1.0 A (+ switching, overload-
proof and short circuit-proof).
Switching delay approx. 4 seconds, avoiding control errors in case of voltage drops
With the tendency of oscillation, automatic prolongation of the cut-off delay up to 90 seconds
The charging mode is recognized due to an intelligent voltage evaluation of the battery, which is connected to the dynamo.
So, it is possible to energize a topped battery cut-off relay, to recharge the board battery with running motor.
Further application possibilities are resulting for control of additional consumers, which shall only be activated, if the
battery had been charged sufficiently. An example is the start of the air-conditioning system during driving or the activation
of fans for interior ventilation.
A continuously lighting LED (light-emitting diode) indicates that the control output had been activated. Thus, recharging of
the starter battery can be supervised. Furthermore, the D+ Simulator can be used for remote charging control by simply
connecting the terminal to a display (12 V lamp).
Installation:
The VOTRONIC D+ Simulator can be operated at any location being protected from humidity.
Any fitting position is possible.
Install the upper housing prior to the final installation of the unit
The cable feed is possible either at the lateral lower edge of the housing or at the housing bottom (invisible).
